The 13th International Art of Giving Day: A Global Celebration
On May 19, 2026, the 13th International Art of Giving Day was celebrated across 190 nations, fulfilling the vision of Dr. Achyuta Samanta. This year’s event took place on six continents, engaging supporters at over 50,000 locations globally, including every one of the 222 member countries of the FIVB (Fédération Internationale de Volleyball), as well as all states and union territories of India. In Odisha alone, the celebration spanned 20,000 venues, reaching nearly 25 million individuals.
A Unified Global Campaign
The International Art of Giving Day aims to inspire compassion and understanding through acts of kindness. Each year adopts a unique theme, and this year’s was "Share to Shine." This motto not only signifies the joy of sharing but also the personal growth that comes from spreading happiness. Activities associated with this celebration included the distribution of volleyballs and nets at more than 3,000 locations across Odisha, promoting sports and social harmony among young people.
"What I am today is due to the concept of the Art of Giving. Through this movement, I have experienced the warmth, love, and affection of people," remarked Dr. Samanta during the celebrations in Bhubaneswar, where a significant event took place.
Highlights of the Celebration
The main event in Bhubaneswar attracted diverse groups from various sectors of society. Notable attendees included prominent figures such as Lok Sabha member Rabindra Narayan Behera, Indian tennis legend Leander Paes, and spiritual leader Getrul Jigme Rinpoche from the Ripa International Center in Switzerland. The celebration featured the theme song of the Art of Giving, presented by renowned Hindi playback singer Shaan.
Acknowledging Contributions
As part of the 13th International Art of Giving Day, prestigious AOG Hero Awards were bestowed. These awards celebrated the remarkable contributions of individuals like Dr. Bidyut Das, a respected medical professional, Ajay Agrawal, a dedicated Rotarian, and Kumar Debadatta, a professor at KIIT. Each awardee had a monetary prize of Rs. 1 Lakh, honoring their commitment to social engagement.
