Recent Survey Reveals Temp Workers Prioritize Work Flexibility and Job Satisfaction

In a recent survey conducted by Will Group, aimed at assessing the opinions and attitudes of temporary workers utilizing their comprehensive staffing services, interesting trends have emerged regarding work preferences and motivations. The survey, which gathered responses from 2,217 temporary employees aged 20 and older between September 8th and September 21st, 2025, indicates a strong desire for a sustainable and flexible working environment. This research represents the fourth iteration of such surveys, with the previous survey having occurred in March 2025.

Key Findings from the Survey

1. Reasons for Choosing Temp Work
The survey revealed that an impressive 43.9% of respondents chose temp work primarily due to the higher hourly wages it offers. Following closely, 36.4% indicated a preference for the flexibility to adapt work arrangements to their lifestyle, while 32% appreciated the ability to secure a job quickly. These findings highlight ongoing preferences that persist from the previous survey: a focus on remuneration, flexibility, and prompt employment.

When examined by age group, the 40s age bracket demonstrated the highest percentage for the 'high pay' motivation, while those in their 30s were more likely to prioritize lifestyle adaptation, and a quick job acquisition was particularly appealing to respondents in their 20s. This pattern indicates varying values associated with temp work across different generations.

2. Key Factors in Job Selection
When questioned about the most important factors influencing their job selection beyond salary and job description, a dominant 60.8% indicated 'ease of taking days off' as a top priority. Following this were 'comfort of the working environment' at 48.8% and 'benefits and allowances' at 45.5%. A shift was noted from the previous survey's emphasis on workplace culture to a more significant focus on tangible support systems, such as benefits and allowances.

Analyzing by age, those in their 20s expressed a strong interest in personal growth, career advancement, and skill enhancement. In contrast, 30-somethings valued work-life balance, highlighting the importance of days off and minimal overtime. Those in their 40s and older prioritized a comfortable work environment and company culture, showcasing slightly different perspectives on work-life balance among age groups.

3. Attitudes Towards Future Employment
When reflecting on their futures and career aspirations, 53.7% expressed a desire to 'work for a long time without overdoing it', while 32.8% hoped to 'maintain their current working style'. This suggests a preference for stability rather than a drastic change in work style. In an age-specified analysis, younger respondents (20s and 30s) voiced stronger concerns for transitional roles toward full-time positions or career advancement, while the 40s and older demographic expressed more tangible concerns regarding income and future job security.

4. Interest in Career Development Support
Inquiring about desired growth support services, 33.0% expressed interest in 'qualification courses', while 28.8% showed inclination towards 'personality and job suitability assessments' aimed at enhancing their skills and self-understanding. Younger respondents showed interest in transitioning to full-time roles, while those in their 40s were more inclined towards qualification acquisition and distance learning. Among those aged 60 and above, a significant 36.3% showed interest in job recommendations and information services.

In conclusion, this latest survey indicates a positive perception of temporary employment, with over half of respondents aiming for a sustainable work approach. The continued importance placed on flexible working conditions, like ease of time off and comfortable working environments, persists across various demographics. Tempted by skills advancement and self-exploration, temporary employees express notable interest in available support services. With this knowledge, Will Group pledges continued efforts in providing strong support for temp workers to facilitate positive career decisions.
