Brazilian Airline Launches Nonstop Flights from Rio to Europe

GOL Linhas Aéreas Introduces Direct Routes to Europe

In a significant expansion of its international services, GOL Linhas Aéreas, Brazil's most punctual airline, has announced the launch of nonstop flights from Rio de Janeiro to Europe. This new route links the international airport RIOgaleão (GIG) in Rio de Janeiro with major destinations in France and Portugal.

Starting September 16, 2026, flights to Lisbon will operate four times a week, while details for services to Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) will be revealed soon. This marks GOL's first foray into direct European flights since its inception in 2001, emphasizing its growth strategy and commitment to connecting Brazil with the world.

The airline will utilize the spacious Airbus A330 for the new routes, which can accommodate nearly 300 passengers. This aircraft is designed to provide a comfortable journey across the Atlantic, offering spacious seating in both economy and business classes.

Premium Travel Experience with INSIGNIA Class

Passengers traveling on these routes will have the opportunity to experience GOL's new INSIGNIA business class. This premium service features fully flat beds, high-quality amenity kits, and exclusive lounge access at select airports. The focus on passenger comfort is evident in GOL's approach to enhancing the overall travel experience, catering especially to business travelers and those seeking luxury accommodations in the air.

Connecting Brazil to the World

The addition of these transatlantic flights represents GOL's strategic importance in enhancing tourism and business opportunities in Brazil. The international airport RIOgaleão serves as a key hub, providing connections to over 30 destinations across Brazil and South America, along with five international routes throughout Latin America.

Moreover, GOL's onboard dining is curated by renowned Brazilian chef Felipe Bronze, who has crafted a unique three-course menu that showcases traditional Brazilian flavors through innovative techniques. Passengers can look forward to a culinary experience that reflects Brazil's rich gastronomic heritage, presented with flair and creativity.

Strengthening GOLLOG Operations

In addition to passenger services, GOL is boosting its logistics operations through GOLLOG, its cargo unit. The Airbus A330 flights will feature a substantial cargo capacity of around 20 tons, enhancing logistical capabilities for the international market. This new model allows GOL to offer a wider range of solutions for its clients, catering to both travel and cargo needs with efficient approaches.

As GOL Linhas Aéreas embarks on this exciting journey into Europe, travelers can expect a blend of Brazilian hospitality, comfort, and cutting-edge travel experiences that redefine international connections. The airline's commitment to punctuality and exceptional service makes it a prominent player in the evolving landscape of global air travel.
