Kia America Achieves Eighth Consecutive Month of Year-Over-Year Sales Growth
Kia America Posts Eighth Month of Sales Growth
Kia America has marked a notable achievement as it announces a remarkable 79,007 units sold in May 2025, reflecting a 5% increase from the same month the previous year. This achievement extends Kia's streak of eight consecutive months demonstrating year-over-year sales growth, showcasing the brand's dynamic and rapid expansion in the automotive market.
The first five months of this year have seen a substantial 8% boost in retail sales at Kia dealerships compared to May 2024, leading up to an overall increase of 15% year-to-date. This strong momentum is attributed to the high demand for models like the Telluride SUV, Sportage, Carnival minivan, and K4 sedan, which have all achieved historic sales numbers this month.
Notably, the Kia Carnival, which introduced a new hybrid model last year, observed a striking 68% year-over-year sales increase. Alongside the Carnival, popular models such as the Telluride and Sportage reported gains of 12% and 10% respectively, while the K4 sedan recorded a 4% rise. May was indeed a landmark month, with these models achieving their highest sales figures to date.
Eric Watson, the Vice President of Sales Operations at Kia America, stated, "As we enter the latter half of the year, Kia's market competitiveness continues to strengthen with eight consecutive months of sales growth. The diverse powertrain offerings from Kia—encompassing internal combustion engines, hybrids, and electric vehicles—are instrumental in driving this ongoing success. Meanwhile, sustained customer interest across our popular models is crucial to our sales trajectory."
Looking ahead, Kia anticipates continued growth, particularly with the release of the EV9 Nightfall Edition and the EV9 GT-Line featuring a two-tone roof, both of which are now available at dealerships nationwide. The updated versions are equipped with upgraded features, including enhanced range and performance, as anticipated by customers seeking an all-electric three-row SUV.
Kia America also highlighted its community engagement efforts, announcing that through the "Accelerate the Good" Dealer Match program, the company and its national dealer network raised $4.6 million for various nonprofits in 2024. Significant donations included over $1.5 million each to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital® and No Kid Hungry®. This initiative, now in its fourth year, continues to provide essential support to various causes across the United States.
Furthermore, the 2025 Kia Sportage Hybrid has been recognized in Cars.com's Best Hybrids by Price list, earning the top spot in the compact SUV segment for the second consecutive year. This accolade underscores the Sportage's commitment to delivering a blend of affordability and efficiency.
The K4 sedan has also made headlines by winning the Wards 10 Best Interiors and User Experience 2025 award. This annual assessment evaluates the interiors of newly launched or radically redesigned vehicles, and the K4 excelled in factors including design, comfort, materials, technology, and connectivity. Out of 34 vehicles assessed for the 2025 awards, the K4 stood out for its interior quality and user-friendly features.
In summary, Kia America's upward trajectory in sales is backed by a diverse range of popular models along with strategic community initiatives. The brand's resilience and commitment to innovation promise to keep it at the forefront of the automotive industry. As customers continue to embrace Kia's expanding lineup, the outlook for the remainder of the year remains optimistic.
For over 800 dealerships across the U.S., Kia is dedicated to offering a variety of vehicles, including over gas, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric options. The brand remains a recognized leader in automotive quality and sustainability, celebrated for its comprehensive automotive solutions.
