Populus Financial Group and Netspend Make Significant Contribution to National Breast Cancer Foundation

Significant Contribution to Breast Cancer Awareness

In a commendable move aimed at combating breast cancer, Populus Financial Group, Inc. and Netspend Corporation have announced a donation of $591,730 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF). This initiative underscores their commitment to supporting a cause that significantly impacts hundreds of thousands of individuals across the U.S. annually.

Breast cancer remains one of the critical health issues affecting women, with predictions indicating that over 382,640 women and about 2,670 men will be diagnosed with this disease in 2026 alone. Early detection through mammograms is vital, as statistics show a remarkable 99% survival rate when breast cancer is caught in its localized stage. NBCF's national mammography program plays a crucial role in providing women with access to free or low-cost mammograms, vital in the early detection and treatment of breast cancer.

A Record of Generosity

During the month recognized for raising breast cancer awareness, known as Pink Month, employees from Populus and ACE Cash Express collectively raised over $236,411 for NBCF. Customers of ACE were encouraged to support the cause by donating, receiving a “Join us in the fight” pink wristband for contributions of $2 or more. This initiative not only aided the fundraising efforts but also fostered a culture of awareness among the customers who participated.

The Flare Account® Pink Debit Card and Pink ACE Elite® Visa® Prepaid Debit Card contributed significantly to this effort. With every use of these cards during the Pink Campaign, donations to NBCF were made by Populus and Netspend; last year, these card transactions accumulated to a notable $340,219. Additionally, through the Porte® app, users who selected NBCF as their charitable partner saw further contributions based on their card usage, totaling $15,100 in the previous year.

Throughout their 19-year partnership, Populus and Netspend have collectively donated over $10 million to NBCF. These funds have facilitated over 477,102 free breast health services, which include screening and diagnostic services, education, and support services for women in need. Populus employees have also engaged in assembling 1,200 HOPE Kits for women undergoing treatment for breast cancer, demonstrating a hands-on approach to supporting those affected.
