April Clobes Joins the Nymbus Board of Directors
Nymbus, a prominent core banking platform catering to U.S. banks and credit unions, recently announced the appointment of April Clobes as a new member of its Board of Directors. Clobes, who serves as the President and CEO of Michigan State University Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU), brings over thirty years of invaluable experience in credit union management and operational insight.
In her role at MSUFCU, Clobes has been instrumental in steering the institution's strategic direction, showcasing her in-depth understanding of the financial services landscape. Her tenure at the credit union began in 1996, and she quickly ascended through various roles before being appointed as President and CEO in 2015. Under her guidance, MSUFCU has achieved tremendous growth, now boasting assets of $9.3 billion and serving over 415,000 members through 35 branches across Michigan.
Clobes also oversees the Reseda Group, a Credit Union Service Organization (CUSO) established to innovate and scale fintech solutions tailored for the credit union sector. As she takes her seat on the Nymbus Board, she aims to leverage her dual perspective from both credit union leadership and fintech operations to foster collaboration and drive technological advancement in the financial services industry.
In recent years, the competitive landscape has intensified for credit unions, which often find themselves in direct competition with larger banks equipped with significantly higher technology budgets. Recognizing this challenge, Clobes emphasizes the need for collaboration—she believes that partnerships are essential for credit unions to enhance their technological capabilities efficiently. "Nymbus provides a practical pathway for credit unions to obtain modern technology without the protracted timelines often associated with such transitions,” she stated, highlighting her enthusiasm for expanding access to innovative solutions throughout the industry.
Clobes’ appointment comes on the heels of a productive partnership between MSUFCU and Nymbus, which was established in 2025. This collaboration includes the successful conversion of two community banks, Algonquin State Bank and McHenry State Bank, onto the Pillur platform, a digital banking solution designed for small and mid-sized enterprises. The joint effort was recognized with a Finopotamus Tekkie Award for Core Innovation, underscoring the effectiveness of their collaboration.
Commenting on Clobes' appointment, Jeffery Kendall, Chairman and CEO of Nymbus, affirms her significant contributions to the credit union space. "April has built one of the most forward-thinking credit unions in the nation while establishing a CUSO that directly supports fintech initiatives. Her insights into the pain points faced by credit unions and her understanding of successful partnerships are invaluable as we work to serve institutions of all sizes."
Clobes has also garnered numerous accolades throughout her career, including recognition as one of the Most Powerful Women in Credit Unions by American Banker. Her leadership has earned her several honors, such as the ATHENA award from the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Michigan State University Distinguished Alumni Award. With a robust network that spans across fintech advisory boards and community organizations, Clobes stands as a leading advocate for the credit union movement and the broader business community.
As Nymbus continues to evolve, Clobes’ strategic guidance and comprehensive experience promise to bolster the company’s mission of empowering community banks and credit unions through modern, cloud-based banking solutions. Nymbus is committed to transforming legacy banking systems to meet the demands of a new digital age, and with Clobes onboard, the company is poised to enhance its capabilities and expand its footprint in the financial sector.
