SERES Engages in ASEAN-China-GCC Economic Forum to Boost Collaboration

SERES Engages in ASEAN-China-GCC Economic Forum

The ASEAN-China-GCC Economic Forum officially opened in Kuala Lumpur on May 27, 2025, with the aim of enhancing cooperation in various sectors such as economy, trade, and investment. SERES, a prominent player in the new energy vehicle (NEV) sector, was invited to represent Chinese companies at this significant event. This invitation underscores SERES's commitment to driving innovation and collaboration within the region.

John Zhang, Chairman and President of SERES Group, articulated the company's focus on redefined luxury vehicles under the slogan "Intelligence Redefining Luxury." SERES plans to accelerate the local development and certification of relevant vehicle models for ASEAN and GCC markets, particularly promoting the premium AITO series. This initiative aims not only to introduce these vehicles more swiftly but also to ensure they are well-suited for the distinct preferences and requirements of local consumers.

Since its establishment in 1986, SERES has progressed through three phases of development—from manufacturing automotive parts to complete vehicles, and now to producing intelligent electric vehicles. To date, it has successfully exported over 550,000 vehicles to more than 70 countries, including Germany, France, the UK, and Italy. In a significant move for its international expansion, SERES established a highly automated plant in Indonesia in 2018, integrating four main processes: stamping, welding, painting, and assembly—thus becoming the first manufacturer of purely electric vehicles in Indonesia.

The company's participation in the ASEAN-China-GCC Economic Forum is expected to enhance exchanges and collaborations with ASEAN and GCC member states, further accelerating SERES's penetration into overseas markets. During the forum, Zhang shared insights on SERES's operational philosophy, which revolves around innovation in electrification and intelligent technology. SERES has developed several core technologies, including the SERES MF Platform and SERES Super Range Extender, establishing a robust technological foothold in the industry.

With the ongoing trends of global economic integration leading to both opportunities and challenges, SERES is committed to adopting a more open and inclusive approach. By collaborating with partners across various sectors, the company aims to forge a new chapter in the development of China's new energy vehicle industry. SERES’s core mission is to innovate and deliver advanced automobile technology while integrating qualities that define luxury in a rapidly evolving market.

As the automotive landscape continues to shift towards sustainability and intelligence, SERES’s strategic initiatives at the ASEAN-China-GCC Economic Forum position it as a critical player in shaping the future of NEVs in Southeast Asia. The company’s dual-brand strategy featuring AITO and DFSK not only caters to diverse market segments but also solidifies SERES's presence as a reputable manufacturer committed to quality and innovation in luxury electric vehicles. Ultimately, SERES seeks to redefine concepts of luxury in the automotive paradigm, intertwining traditional elegance with technological sophistication, thereby appealing to the modern consumer during this transformative era in the automotive market.
