About CRAFTAL

CRAFTAL is a unique subscription service that provides traditional Japanese tableware to restaurants throughout Japan at a monthly flat rate. This service allows establishments to minimize initial investments while selecting tableware that aligns with their seasonal menus. By regularly updating their dishware, restaurants can enhance the attractiveness of their offerings and enrich the overall dining experience.

The service effectively addresses challenges associated with traditional tableware procurement, such as high purchasing costs, inventory and storage burdens, breakage risks, and the obsolescence of items. With a rental model, restaurant operators can achieve agile and flexible management, while artisans benefit from a stable demand and ongoing promotional opportunities. In addition, used tableware is repurposed into a second-hand brand known as "Tabisara," fostering a new ecosystem where the value of crafts can circulate.

Starting in 2025, CRAFTAL plans to launch "CRAFTAL INTERIOR," a new service that supports individuals and businesses in creating aesthetically pleasing spaces. This expansion aims to not just focus on tableware but also on incorporating traditional crafts to beautify living, workplace, and hospitality environments.

Selection Commentary

CRAFTAL has been recognized as a pioneer in promoting cultural preservation through its subscription service for Japanese traditional tableware. By producing businesses that leverage traditional craftsmanship, CRAFTAL not only provides selected tableware to restaurants but also plans to introduce a monthly subscription for individuals and companies in January 2025. Collaborating with Komehyo Holdings, it also ventures into second-hand traditional crafts trade, striking a balance between cultural value and economic viability. The company aims to establish a manufacturing base for tableware in Nakama City, Fukuoka, in the spring of 2026 and has plans for expansion into Asia and Europe.
