Schivo Expands Its Horizons with the Acquisition of Mecaplast SA
In a significant move to bolster its leadership in the precision manufacturing sector, Schivo has announced the acquisition of Mecaplast SA, a highly regarded Swiss company specializing in high-precision injection molding. This acquisition, which was finalized on September 3, 2025, is expected to enhance Schivo's capabilities in MedTech and life sciences significantly.
Founded in 1971 and situated in Botterens, Switzerland, Mecaplast has earned a formidable reputation for technical excellence and quality in manufacturing critical components, precision molds, and cleanroom assemblies for major OEMs in the MedTech and life sciences sectors. With over 6,000 square meters dedicated to production in its ISO 13485 certified facility, Mecaplast has developed an in-depth expertise in micro-molding, over-molding, injection molding, mold fabrication, and automation processes.
The acquisition of Mecaplast is strategically critical for Schivo as it facilitates vertical integration by adding capabilities in plastic, metal, and ceramic components manufacturing. This move not only enhances Schivo's assembly and value-added services but also positions the company to advance its operational efficiencies across its facilities in the United States and Mexico. A new European center of excellence is anticipated to bring advanced molding capabilities in both plastic and metal to support Schivo's customer base on international markets.
Graham Reeves, CEO of Schivo, expressed enthusiasm regarding the acquisition, stating, "Mecaplast SA brings decades of in-depth expertise in complex molding of plastics, metals, and ceramics, which aligns perfectly with our vision to create a multi-skilled global platform for medical devices and advanced solutions in life sciences, targeted at robotics surgery, minimally invasive procedures, and analytical instrumentation. Their commitment to innovation further strengthens our ability to deliver fully integrated solutions across materials, technologies, and international markets."
Jean-Marc Jaccottet, the CEO and owner of Mecaplast, shared his excitement about joining forces with Schivo, viewing it as a natural and exciting evolution for his company. He noted, "Our team looks forward to continuing to serve our longstanding clients while quickly addressing the needs of new customers. This partnership accelerates investments and development, leveraging the combined expertise of both companies to broaden the impact of our Swiss precision molding and advanced manufacturing capabilities."
Mecaplast's facility is set to serve as a global center of excellence for Schivo, focusing on precision molding and materials. Jaccottet will become part of Schivo’s executive team as the President of Molding Technologies, where he will spearhead R&D and innovation while driving the growth of the group's production capabilities, positioning Schivo as a critical player in advanced molding solutions.
As a key player in the medical technology industry, Schivo collaborates with leaders and innovators to develop, manufacture, assemble, and deliver prototypes and finished devices. Their commitment to facilitating the commercialization of technologies empowers clients through unique technical challenges, innovative manufacturing processes, and streamlined supply chains from design to market launch.
