Experience Traditional Edo Culture at Hoshinoya Tokyo
Hoshinoya Tokyo, a unique Japanese ryokan located amid the vibrant Tokyo skyline, presents an extraordinary lineup of events this autumn. Sticking to the core of Edo culture, the hotel will be hosting enchanting experiences from September 1 to November 30, 2025, where guests can unwind under the moonlight with swordsmanship training and exquisite boat rides.
Swordsmanship Training Under the Moonlight
One of the highlighted activities is the
Tsukikage Kenjutsu Keiko, or moonlight swordsmanship training. This experience provides a refreshing escape as participants practice sword techniques against a breathtaking backdrop of Tokyo’s night views. Historically, Japanese samurai trained in the dark, relying solely on the moon’s light to sharpen their instincts and reflexes. This rare opportunity allows modern participants to cultivate similar skills while immersing themselves in a sense of history. The training is supervised by an instructor from the
Hokushin Itto-ryu, one of the three main schools of Edo period kenjutsu.

Pre-Sleep Deep Breathing Sessions
The hotel also offers a soothing Pre-Sleep Deep Breathing activity that focuses on relaxation before bedtime. Particularly in autumn, guests may experience disruptions in their autonomic nervous system due to temperature fluctuations, leading to difficulties sleeping. The deep breathing sessions incorporate gentle stretches, easing bodily tension and promoting relaxation. After the session, guests can enjoy a seasonal herbal tea blend, creating an idyllic atmosphere reminiscent of autumn’s serene charm.

An exclusive experience called Ato no Tsuki Taizai allows guests to immerse themselves in the beauty of the thirteenth night moon, celebrated for its unique charm that highlights the beauty in imperfection. This experience will be conducted in a tranquil setting where the modern TOKYO skyline meets traditional Japanese gardens.
