Texas A&M Freshman Charles Pitner Recognized with Space to Succeed Scholarship

In a remarkable achievement for young service-minded leaders, Charles Pitner, a freshman at Texas A&M University, has been named one of the three recipients of the esteemed 2025 Space to Succeed Scholarship. This scholarship, awarded by The Storage Center, aims to support students who demonstrate exceptional commitment to community service while pursuing their education.

Pitner was chosen from a competitive pool of thousands of applicants due to his innovative nonprofit initiative, Charlie's Kids-4-Kids Coat Drive, which he founded at just six years of age. Over the years, this initiative has helped collect and distribute more than 9,500 coats to families in need across Lubbock and nearby areas. Partnering with local schools and businesses, his annual coat drive has transformed into a cherished community event, with a highlight being the distribution day held at a local elementary school, where he and volunteers ensure that every child has a warm coat for winter.

Robby Piper, Principal at The Storage Center, expressed his admiration for Pitner, stating, "Charles has spent more than a decade proving that age doesn't limit impact. Through his coat drive and education at Texas A&M, he is shaping a legacy of service that's inspiring to see." Pitner's continued efforts in the agricultural sector as an agribusiness major reflect his dedication to creating sustainable opportunities for giving back to his community.

His mission goes beyond just providing coats. Pitner aspires to honor Texas' agricultural heritage, utilizing his education to expand initiatives that serve local families through sustainable farming practices and community support programs. "Charles represents the spirit of this scholarship – combining education and service to create sustainable, positive change," Piper added.

The Space to Succeed Scholarship, which provides each winner with a $5,000 award paid directly to their educational institution, underscores The Storage Center's commitment to fostering youth leadership and community engagement.
