In an exclusive initiative by Hotel Metropolitan, visitors can celebrate three meaningful anniversaries: the 40th anniversary of the hotel, the 100th of the Yamanote Line, and the 40th of the Saikyo Line. This exciting plan, titled “Ikebukuro Station Announcement Experience & Dinner Buffet Plan,” offers a unique opportunity for children to record a station announcement that will be broadcasted for two weeks at Ikebukuro Station. This experience is available in limited quantities each month, making it a rare treat for families.

A Dream Come True for Young Station Masters

On the event days—August 24th, 25th, and 26th in 2025, followed by the fourth Sunday of each month from September onward—children between the ages of 5 and 11 can dress up in station staff uniforms and learn about the important roles that station personnel play. They will get the chance to record important announcements such as:

• - “Please refrain from using your smartphone while walking.”
• - “Please stand still when using the escalator.”
• - “For safety, please step back from the yellow tactile blocks.”
• - “Please do not rush to catch trains.”
• - “Using an umbrella on the platform is dangerous, so please refrain from doing so.”

Although children will not be able to choose the exact content of their announcement, they will receive a certificate of participation as a keepsake.

Indulge in a Delectable Dinner

Following the station experience, families can enjoy a delicious dinner buffet at Cross Dine, the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant. The buffet will feature around 60 different dishes, excitingly themed to celebrate the anniversaries of the train lines. Kids can enjoy a special train-themed dinner plate, exclusive to participants. During the months of August through October, the theme plate will represent the Saikyo Line, while from November through March, it will celebrate the Yamanote Line.

Booking and Details

The reservation for this unique experience opens on August 4, 2025, at 12:00 PM, with bookings available every first day of the month at 12:00 PM for the following month's slots. Reservations can be made exclusively via the JR East Mall, the online shopping portal operated by JR East Japan, with only four groups available each day.

The cost for this special event is ¥11,800 for an adult and one child, with additional child participants able to join for ¥3,000 each. This covers both the announcement experience and dinner, providing an opportunity to engage in fun while enjoying a wonderful meal.

Important Information

To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, children who are showing any symptoms of illness, including fever, are asked not to participate. The event allows a maximum of three individuals per group (one adult and two children) to enter the experience area.
