SAUDIA Partners with Panasonic Avionics for a Revolutionary In-Flight Experience on A321XLR

SAUDIA Partners with Panasonic Avionics for Enhanced In-Flight Experience

In a groundbreaking collaboration, SAUDIA, the national airline of Saudi Arabia, has partnered with Panasonic Avionics Corporation to elevate the in-flight experience on its Airbus A321XLR aircraft. This initiative includes the introduction of the innovative Astrova in-flight engagement (IFE) solution, alongside the Modular Interactive (MI) platform and the Arc™ 3D moving map application. Together, these advancements promise to transform how passengers engage during their travels.

Panasonic Avionics, recognized globally for its cutting-edge in-flight connectivity and engagement solutions, launched Astrova as part of its commitment to enhancing passenger experiences. The introduction of this system on SAUDIA’s fleet marks a significant milestone not just for the airline but for the aviation sector in Saudi Arabia.

SAUDIA has selected the Astrova IFE solution, MI, and Arc for 15 Airbus A321XLR aircraft. This decision builds on Panasonic Avionics' long-standing relationship with SAUDIA, following previous updates where Astrova was retrofitted onto 46 of the airline's aircraft, including various Airbus and Boeing models.

Passengers aboard the Astrova-equipped aircraft can expect an unparalleled entertainment experience complete with industry-leading 4K OLED HDR10+ displays that promise vibrant imagery and clarity. The system is also enhanced by spatial audio capabilities which utilize Panasonic Avionics’ latest Bluetooth technology, thereby enriching the audio experience for all seaters.

To further cater to tech-savvy travelers, each seat is equipped with up to 67 watts of USB-C direct current power, facilitating swift charging options for mobiles, laptops, and other electronic devices throughout the flight. This focus on power availability ensures that guests stay connected during their journey, making in-flight work or entertainment seamless.

Another impressive feature is the introduction of programmable LED lighting within the cabin, which allows SAUDIA to customize the ambience to enhance passenger comfort. This thoughtful design reflects the airline’s aim to create a more engaging and soothing atmosphere for travelers.

The MI platform provides a customizable suite of enterprise tools, granting SAUDIA the flexibility to extend its branding throughout the in-flight entertainment experience. At the heart of this system is the MI Studio, an interactive design tool that enables the airline to quickly implement seasonal updates, promotional campaigns, and tailored content all through the seatback interface, enhancing guest interaction and satisfaction.

Passengers will also be treated to Panasonic Avionics’ Arc 3D moving map application, which blends stunning visuals with real-time data, creating a dynamic, interactive onboard engagement experience. Arc allows airlines to highlight destinations and points of interest through an intuitive interface, ensuring that the journey itself becomes part of the travel experience.

Aziz Koseni, Head of Sales for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Panasonic Avionics, expressed the company’s excitement about this deployment: “We are thrilled to see our Astrova solution, MI, and Arc system in action on SAUDIA’s Airbus A321XLR. This collaboration demonstrates the airline's commitment to enhancing the guest experience in line with its future growth ambitions.”

Hernan Abbes, Senior Vice President of Global Sales at Panasonic Avionics, emphasized that the Astrova, MI, and Arc systems have been designed to provide airlines with greater flexibility and adaptability, enhancing the passenger experience over time. “Together with SAUDIA, we are pioneering in-flight engagement that offers a unique, immersive environment for travelers,” he stated.

Rossen Dimitrov, Chief Guest Experience Officer at SAUDIA, shared insights into the airline's focus on improving passenger journeys. “With Panasonic Avionics' innovative systems on board, we are taking our ‘BEYOND’ in-flight entertainment experience to new heights.
