NetDragon Partners with Open University Malaysia

In an age where technology continues to transform education, NetDragon Websoft Holdings Limited has made a significant move by signing a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Open University Malaysia (OUM). This collaboration aims to merge digital technology with open education, particularly focusing on the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in educational constructs.

This agreement was formalized during a signing ceremony on October 26, 2025, in Fuzhou, Changle, with notable figures such as Dr. Simon Leung, Vice Chairman of NetDragon, and Prof. Datin Dr. Santhi Raghavan from OUM witnessing the event. The partnership signifies a commitment to exploring innovative methods for integrating AI into education, thus setting a new standard for open and distance learning on a global scale.

Areas of Collaboration

Under the terms outlined in the MOU, both institutions will work collaboratively to develop a framework that advances the use of AI and other digital technologies in educational environments. Some of the primary focus areas of this partnership include:

  • - AI-Driven Digital Content Development: Both institutions aim to create engaging digital content powered by AI. This includes integrating intelligent learning analytics into OUM's Learning Management System (LMS), allowing for personalized educational experiences.
  • - Psychological Well-Being Tools: The partnership will incorporate tools like a psychological wellness dashboard, which will offer insights into students' behaviors and emotions, enabling tailored learning interventions that enhance educational effectiveness.
  • - Blockchain Credentialing: As credibility in education becomes increasingly critical, the collaboration will explore blockchain technology for secure digital credentialing and micro-certifications, ensuring the validity of qualifications.
  • - Joint Research Initiatives: A dedicated “AI Research and Innovation Laboratory” will be established, emphasizing instructional design, gamified learning approaches, and the ethical implications of AI in the educational realm.

In addition to these initiatives, efforts will be directed toward developing micro-credential courses and vocational training programs tailored to industry needs, boosting learners’ employability.

Vision for the Future

Mr. Chen Hong, Senior Vice President of NetDragon, expressed the importance of this partnership, noting that it marks a pivotal moment in engaging with global educational bodies like UNESCO to promote widespread AI integration in educational practices. The goal is to create a scalable model of 'AI + Open Education' that can be adapted for future partnerships, thereby enhancing educational opportunities across different regions.

Similarly, Prof. Datuk Dr. Mohd Tajudin Md Ninggal of OUM emphasized the significance of this collaboration in advancing digital learning and reaffirming their commitment to making education accessible and effective for all.

Prof. Datin Dr. Santhi Raghavan further highlighted the impact of NetDragon's innovative approaches in gamified learning, which are expected to positively influence OUM's ongoing efforts to lead in open education.

The company is known for its dual-focus strategy of combining AI with both gaming and education to foster inclusive and equitable learning environments worldwide.

By aligning with Open University Malaysia, NetDragon aims not only to transform educational experiences domestically but also share its digital education philosophy with institutions globally, thereby contributing to a more cohesive and intelligent educational landscape.
