Wacom Unveils the Art Pen 2: A Revolutionary Stylus for Digital Artists

Wacom has officially launched its latest innovation, the Wacom Art Pen 2, which is designed specifically for digital artists seeking an advanced tool that offers unmatched precision and a more intuitive drawing experience. This new generation stylus boasts a unique 360° barrel rotation feature, allowing artists to replicate the natural gestures of traditional drawing tools, making it a significant upgrade for professionals in the digital creative field.

A Game-Changer for Digital Creators

With the Art Pen 2, users can experience an unprecedented level of control and expressiveness. The device is an extension of the original Wacom Art Pen, incorporating the latest Pro Pen 3 technology, ensuring that it not only senses pressure and tilt but also recognizes rotation angle when used with compatible software. This feature emulates the adjustments that traditional artists make while changing the position of their pencils, brushes, or calligraphy pens to create varying line thickness and different styles.

According to Koji Yano, Senior Vice President of Creative Experience at Wacom, "Artists have cherished the Wacom Art Pen for its tactile feel and expressive possibilities. With the new Art Pen 2, we have refined and enhanced what our community loves, integrating this familiar experience with our latest Pro Pen technology to empower creators to bring their visions to life."

Intelligent Design for Seamless Workflow

Wacom has ensured that the Art Pen 2 is not only powerful but also user-friendly. The pen features Wacom's battery-free EMR technology, which eliminates the need for charging and allows for uninterrupted creativity. It also comes equipped with three customizable buttons that streamline tasks and enhance operational efficiency. Furthermore, with up to 8,192 levels of pressure sensitivity, this stylus delivers fluid motion and precision, whether for delicate sketches or bold strokes.

The design includes a built-in nib holder that can store three replacement nibs, allowing artists to swap them out quickly during their work, ensuring that there are minimal interruptions in their creative flow.

New Nib Options for Artistic Expression

Artists can choose from three newly developed nib types tailored to provide different drawing sensations: Art Pen 2 Carbon Shaft POM, Art Pen 2 POM, and Art Pen 2 Felt nibs. Each nib is crafted for distinct effects and feels and uniquely designed for this model, ensuring that they are not interchangeable with Wacom Pro Pen 3 nibs. The pen comes pre-installed with an Art Pen 2 Carbon Shaft POM nib to get users started right away.

Compatibility and Availability

The Art Pen 2 is based on the Wacom Pro Pen 3 technology and is compatible with multiple Wacom devices, including the Wacom MovinkPad Pro 14, Wacom Intuos Pro (PTK470 / PTK670 / PTK870), and the Wacom Cintiq series. Future compatibility with Wacom Cintiq Pro models is expected. However, unlike the Pro Pen 3, the Art Pen 2 does not support interchangeable grips or weights for tailoring the pen feel or balance.

This cutting-edge stylus will soon be available for purchase, marking another significant step forward in Wacom's commitment to supporting artists with innovative tools for their creative journeys. Whether you're sketching, illustrating, or designing, the Wacom Art Pen 2 is poised to revolutionize the way digital artists create.
