Monex Securities Hits New Heights in January 2026
In a remarkable achievement, Monex Securities has announced that the number of new comprehensive securities account openings exceeded 47,000 in January 2026, setting a new record since its establishment in 1999. This milestone showcases the increasing interest in personal investing and the effectiveness of the company's initiatives.
Monex Securities was founded with the mission of democratizing investments, aiming to provide financial services previously limited to institutional investors and the wealthy to retail investors. Over the past 26 years, the company has maintained a steadfast focus on prioritizing its customers.
Starting in 2020, Monex shifted from a business model dependent on transaction volumes to what they describe as the “Asset Management Model.” This newer approach emphasizes the growth of customer assets as its top priority. As part of this initiative, Monex announced a capital and business alliance with NTT Docomo in January 2024, aiming to integrate investment opportunities into everyday experiences for customers. The launch of the new NISA program in January 2024 has also broadened services aimed at investors using this tax-advantaged account, further contributing to the increase in account openings.
Partnership with NTT Docomo
In collaboration with NTT Docomo, Monex has successfully rolled out various services to enhance customer engagement. The increasing number of account openings can be attributed to several key initiatives:
Launch of d-Card Savings in July 2024
Monex introduced a monthly investment option through d-Card, allowing customers to earn up to 3.1% in d-points on their total investment amounts. This convenient and rewarding scheme has garnered considerable customer acceptance, leading to a steady increase in its user base.
Integration with d-Account in September 2024
Monex’s comprehensive securities accounts can now be linked to d-Accounts, allowing users to earn d-points from transactions at Monex. These d-points can be redeemed for purchasing mutual funds, making investment transactions even more appealing.
Simple Asset Management Service in July 2025
The “Simple Asset Management” service, launched through Docomo's d-payment app, enables easy account opening and mutual fund subscription. This user-friendly service significantly contributed to the increase in new account registrations.
Services for NISA Users
Monex Securities has tailored its offerings for NISA users by eliminating all trading fees for transactions conducted under the new NISA framework starting in 2024. This includes trades in Japanese, American, and Chinese stocks, as well as mutual funds.
Furthermore, Monex’s NISA platform allows investors utilizing credit cards for mutual fund investments to receive up to 3.1% in points for their contributions. Customers also earn annual points based on their holdings, providing an additional incentive for investment.
Additionally, Monex began the “NISA Points Bonanza Program” in October 2024, rewarding customers with points based on their trading activity. Starting in October 2025, they will introduce the “NISA Savings Excitement Program,” which features monthly cash prizes of 10,000 yen for customers investing in mutual funds through their NISA account.
Expansion through Collaboration
In August 2026, Monex will deepen its collaboration with NTT Docomo and Sumishin SBI Net Bank to enhance service offerings further. This tripartite partnership is set to amplify Monex's capabilities to provide tailored financial services that cater to the unique lifecycle stages of each customer.
As Monex Securities continues to refine its approach to meet customer needs, it remains committed to supporting investors in achieving their financial objectives.
