On December 7th and 8th, 2025, San Francisco's Palace of Fine Arts buzzed with excitement as visitors gathered for a special Moutai-themed event. This year marked a significant milestone, commemorating the 110th anniversary of Moutai's debut on the international stage at the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915. Known as one of China's most distinguished baijiu brands, Moutai has expanded beyond its local roots to showcase its cultural heritage worldwide.

A Historical Echo

The event was not just a celebration but a reaffirmation of Moutai’s commitment to fostering connections between cultures. The 1915 Expo was an emblematic moment that served as a launching pad for the brand's global journey, where Moutai attained accolades such as the coveted Gold Medal. This recognition was instrumental in embedding Moutai within the annals of history, linking it to the collective memory of San Francisco and the spirit of globalization.

In 2015, the significance of this relationship was cemented when the then-mayor of San Francisco, Edwin Lee, declared November 12 as “San Francisco Moutai Day.” This recognition not only symbolized appreciation for the brand’s contribution to cross-cultural exchange but also acknowledged Moutai's role in enhancing local economic ties. Fast forward to 2025, and Moutai has evolved into a worldwide powerhouse, boasting a market value nearing $282 billion.

The Event and Its Ambiance

The two-day exhibition titled “San Francisco In Search of Our Shared Memories: A Chinese Brand's Perspective on 1915,” effectively brought together historical narratives and Moutai's brand ethos. The structure of the event mirrored the various phases of Moutai's journey. Beginning with the evocative ‘Shared Memory of 1915’ and progressing through ‘A World Progressing in 1915’ to the celebration of its modern-day stature in ‘Setting Sail for 2025.’

Guests started their experience in a relaxed setting, where Moutai cocktails accompanied by live jazz music set the tone for the evening. Dialogues among attendees flourished, revealing a depth of appreciation for the brand that has transcended cultural and geographical barriers.

A standout feature of the exhibition was an art installation named Jinshan, which visually recounted the historical significance of the Panama Canal's opening through dynamic projections. Artifacts from Moutai’s past were on display, including the original Expo Gold Medal and handwritten factory histories, allowing attendees to engage with the brand’s heritage in a tangible manner.
