Affordable Housing Initiative in Northeast Winston-Salem

The recent groundbreaking ceremony for an ambitious affordable housing project in Northeast Winston-Salem marks a significant milestone for community development in the area. This initiative, spearheaded by Carolina Complete Health and the Centene Foundation, seeks to address critical housing needs while promoting the overall health of the community.

A Partnership for Progress

On March 27, 2026, key stakeholders, including representatives from Carolina Complete Health, the Centene Foundation, ASPIRE, and the City of Winston-Salem, gathered to celebrate the investment of $2 million aimed at revitalizing the community. The funding will specifically support the development of new housing units at Cleveland Avenue Homes, as part of the broader Northeast Winston-Salem Choice Neighborhood Initiative. Partners involved in this project include McCormack Baron Salazar, known for its commitment to urban renewal and community development.

The current phase of the initiative will replace 244 aging housing units with modern mixed-income ones, fostering not only better living conditions but also community engagement and health services.
