In a significant move to bolster its global HR operations, Rigaku Holdings Corporation has successfully implemented Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) as its enterprise HRIS. This initiative, supported by Japan IBM, comes as Rigaku, specializing in advanced industrial sectors including semiconductors, accelerates its global organizational footprint and employee investments. With headquarters in Akishima City, Tokyo, Rigaku aims to raise its employee count from 2,000 to approximately 2,500-2,600 by 2027, per its medium-term management plan disclosed in February 2025.

Rigaku currently operates in nine countries, growing rapidly in the international market. Despite its expansive growth, the challenge has been managing human resources processes that were previously scattered across various regions and group companies. This fragmentation inhibited effective talent visibility and strategic utilization across the company.

As a solution, Rigaku has adopted Workday HCM as a globally unified human resource data foundation. This platform provides a user-friendly experience for managers and employees, supporting data-driven decision-making through its analytic capabilities and artificial intelligence features. The initiative aligns with Rigaku’s vision of fostering a cohesive global workforce, encapsulated in its “Global One Rigaku (G1R)” strategy, which seeks to optimize performance and enhance the collective strength of the organization worldwide.

With over 70% of its sales coming from overseas, Rigaku is restructuring its operations to transcend national and corporate barriers, integrating development, manufacturing, sales, and service operations into a cohesive global organization. The implementation of Workday not only supports this restructuring but also integrates with Rigaku’s group governance strategies, strengthening its mid to long-term growth through enhanced human capital management.
