GEDU Global Education Partners with UNITAR

On December 17, 2025, GEDU Global Education, a UK-based multinational focused on educational solutions, solidified its commitment to sustainable development by signing an agreement with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). This partnership was announced during the XXII Annual Steering Committee Meeting of the CIFAL Global Network, held in London from December 9 to 11, which saw participation from over 70 delegates across more than 30 nations.

What the Agreement Entails

Under this agreement, GEDU is set to operate one of the 32 international training centers managed by UNITAR. These centers aim to support initiatives that promote the achievement of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by the United Nations in 2015. The CIFAL centers are designed to provide targeted training to government officials and representatives from civil society, thereby enhancing competencies that address global challenges.

During the meeting, delegates evaluated the network's performance, which successfully trained over 161,000 beneficiaries throughout 2025. A strategic capacity building strategy was adopted to further accelerate the accomplishment of the SDGs over the next five years, reflecting the collaborative spirit of the CIFAL centers.

The Role of GEDU

GEDU released its first Sustainability Report in conjunction with UK Minister for AI and Online Safety, Kanishka Narayan, at a function in Parliament hosted by Baroness Verma. This report highlights the contributions made by all GEDU institutions towards the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Dr. Vishwajeet Rana, CEO of GEDU Group, expressed the significance of this partnership by stating, "This is a landmark agreement. The collaboration allows us to enhance our sustainability initiatives in direct partnership with the United Nations, UNITAR, and the CIFAL centers worldwide."

Looking ahead to 2026, Dr. Rana emphasized that the partnership will be pivotal in identifying areas for joint efforts that align with the evolving UN development agenda, particularly in the context of UN 2.0 and the Pact for the Future. He noted GEDU's comprehensive perspective thanks to its presence in 16 countries around the globe, offering a unique viewpoint and extensive impact potential.

UNITAR's Response

Alex Mejia, the Director of UNITAR's Division for People and Social Development, reinforced the importance of the partnership. He remarked, "This strategic agreement with GEDU is key to building the capacity needed to deliver the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Many CIFAL Centers are hosted at universities, emphasizing the vital role of higher education in this undertaking."

Mejia also expressed confidence in the potential outcomes of collaborating with GEDU, stating, "Having CIFAL London operated by a prestigious organization like GEDU will significantly enhance our outreach to 200,000 beneficiaries in the coming year. Their operations across continents will undoubtedly bolster our capabilities to achieve our collective objectives."

The Broader Impact of GEDU

GEDU Global Education is on a mission to transform lives through accessible education and has a significant international footprint. With operations in 16 countries such as the USA, UK, Canada, India, and Australia, GEDU provides diverse educational opportunities ranging from K-12 to advanced degrees such as Ph.D. and DBA alongside vocational training.

The system caters to more than 80,000 students, with an emphasis on employability and enriching the student experience to yield maximum return on investment. GEDU’s global influence is a testament to the idea that education is truly transformative, a conviction that undergirds its initiatives.

As GEDU moves forward with this partnership with UNITAR, the future looks promising not just for the organization but also for the countless individuals poised to benefit from enhanced educational resources aimed at sustainable development goals.

In conclusion, the collaboration between GEDU Global Education and UNITAR marks a significant step forward in addressing global challenges through education, illustrating the powerful role that institutions can play in meeting the needs of a rapidly changing world.
