California Credit Union Foundation Invites Teachers for Fall Grant Applications

The California Credit Union Foundation is stepping up its commitment to education by inviting teachers in Los Angeles County to apply for its Teacher Grant program. This initiative is aimed at supporting innovative class projects that can significantly enhance the learning experience for students. The Foundation will award ten individual grants of $500 each in the fall to empower educators with creative ideas that meet academic needs.

Full-time teachers from Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, and Ventura counties, as well as credit union members working as teachers in California, are eligible for these grants. According to the Foundation's president, Marvel Ford, the goal is to cultivate engaging projects that not only spark student curiosity but also provide valuable educational opportunities. “By providing resources for innovative teaching, we can help to inspire our students and foster a deeper love for learning,” Ford emphasized.

The projects eligible for funding should be well thought out, showcasing clear learning objectives that link to the academic needs of students. They also need to demonstrate creativity and aim to benefit a substantial number of students. This focus on impactful and innovative education aligns perfectly with the Foundation’s mission of community empowerment, investing in education, and promoting financial literacy.

Interested teachers can find all necessary application details and submit their proposals online, with the deadline for submissions set for September 29, 2025. As a note of reference, since the inception of this program in 2012, the Foundation has distributed a remarkable $215,000 in teacher grants, funding various transformative projects that range from exciting forensic science initiatives to entrepreneurial programs for fourth-graders and even environmentally-focused horticulture clubs.

In addition to these grants, the California Credit Union Foundation is committed to serving its community through various initiatives aimed at empowering youths, supporting educators, and honoring those who serve in the military. The Foundation, designated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, operates with the principle of channeling 100% of donations back into community programs, ensuring every contribution is utilized for maximum impact.

This commitment to education and innovative teaching showcases the California Credit Union Foundation’s broader efforts to uplift communities, promote financial literacy, and provide significant resources to schools and educators throughout Southern California. By inviting innovative projects from educators, the Foundation hopes to become a catalyst for creating enriching learning experiences that will resonate with students for years to come. Teachers with groundbreaking ideas are highly encouraged to apply and showcase how these funds can help transform their classrooms and engage students meaningfully. Through initiatives like these, the Foundation continues to prove that investing in education is key to shaping the future of the community it serves.
