Tairex Develops a Revolutionary Multi-Agent AI System for Clinical Collaboration and Decision Support

Tairex's Groundbreaking AI System

On October 21, Tairex, an innovative company specializing in healthcare AI and established by the Institute for AI Industry Research (AIR) at Tsinghua University, officially launched the “Multidisciplinary Human-Agent Collaboration (MHAC) Ecosystem for Agent Hospital.” This system aims to revolutionize clinical collaboration by equipping specialized AI agents to work alongside healthcare professionals on clinical cases.

1. From Virtual Training to Practical Collaboration

In a highly realistic simulated environment housing millions of AI-generated patients, the AI can perform tens of thousands of simulated consultations daily. This extensive virtual training has led to the development of a system consisting of 54 AI physicians and millions of AI patients, covering over 20 clinical specialties and thousands of diseases. Impressively, these AI doctors achieved more than 96% accuracy on the MedQA dataset.

Whenever a patient’s condition involves multiple specialties, the system dynamically engages relevant agents to collaborate simultaneously. Instead of functioning in isolation, these agents present their clinical reasoning and evidence on a unified interface, highlighting discrepancies for human doctors to review. For instance, when an endocrinology agent recommended a beta-blocker for a patient with heart palpitations and asthma, a pulmonary agent noted the risk of bronchoconstriction from non-selective beta-blockers and suggested considering a selective beta-1 blocker instead.

2. Redesigning Clinical Workflow Through AI Collaboration

Specialized AI agents can provide simultaneous recommendations within the clinical interface, allowing physicians to incorporate multidisciplinary perspectives without waiting for separate discussions. This system also enhances access to specialist knowledge by enabling AI agents, modeled after specialists, to support multiple departments and potentially reach primary care facilities, making quality medical resources accessible to a broader audience.

The design of this AI system is intended to augment efficiency and support clinical decision-making while refraining from making critical decisions independently. Data security is integrated into system design, with Tairex’s foundational products adhering to the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and South Korea's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). The company has also received Level 3 certification under China's Multi-Level Protection Scheme (MLPS).

By incorporating AI-driven workflows into human-led clinical decision-making, Tairex's multidisciplinary ecosystem aims to make high-quality medical resources available in more healthcare facilities, including primary care, thereby promoting fairer access to healthcare for all.

Conclusion

Tairex’s innovative multi-agent AI system stands at the forefront of transforming healthcare practices by enhancing the collaboration between human expertise and artificial intelligence. As the system takes root in healthcare practices, it promises not only to optimize clinical workflows but also to significantly improve patient outcomes, marking a new chapter in the utilization of AI in the medical field.
