The project was conceptualized by Dr. Padmini Murthy, AMWA's Global Health Lead, and Ms. Jing Cesarone, the founder of the Global CSR Foundation. Recognizing the significant barriers faced by many girls in accessing menstrual hygiene products, the project aims to provide vital resources that allow girls to attend school without interruption.

During the distribution event of menstrual hygiene products headed by H.E. Mrs. Ann Marie Davis, First Lady of The Bahamas, she highlighted the unfortunate reality that many girls miss school during their menstrual periods due to the inability to afford sanitary products. “I couldn’t believe the extent of the need for these products in underserved communities here in The Bahamas,” she remarked. Her commitment to address this issue reflects a deeper understanding of the impact menstrual poverty has on education and personal dignity.

Since the project's initial rollout in March 2024, which targeted locations such as the Republic of Suriname and various shelters in New York, it has now expanded its horizons to The Bahamas. The partnership with the Office of The Spouse of the Prime Minister has facilitated the distribution of disposable sanitary pads, considering local constraints such as limited water resources and high cleaning costs associated with reusable products. This thoughtful approach ensures that women are well-equipped even during natural disasters, like hurricanes, which are a concern in the region.

The initiative aligns well with the Distribution of Feminine Pads Initiative led by the First Lady’s Office. Together, they tackle the crucial objective of minimizing absenteeism among schoolgirls caused by period poverty. Additionally, they aim to promote awareness and normalize conversations about menstrual health within the community.

Mrs. Davis expressed her gratitude by saying, “Your donation has made a tangible impact on the lives of those we support. The pads were shared with various community stakeholders, including legislators and non-profit organizations. The joy expressed by the recipients underlined the profound need for these supplies. This donation not only assists in managing menstrual health but also restores confidence and dignity.”

In acknowledgement of the project's impact, Mrs. Davis sent a heartfelt letter to KuCoin, appreciating their compassion and dedication toward improving lives. KuCoin’s efforts in Corporate Social Responsibility were honored with the 2025 Corporate Social Responsibility Award from the World Women Organization, reflecting their commitment to social causes.
