OSAKA OHSHO Expands to North America with Flagship Store in LA

OSAKA OHSHO's First North American Store Opens in Los Angeles

In an exciting development for food enthusiasts, OSAKA OHSHO, a renowned Japanese dining brand specializing in Gyoza, is set to launch its first flagship store in North America. Located in Sawtelle Boulevard, Los Angeles—a vibrant area often referred to as ‘Little Osaka’ due to its concentration of Japanese restaurants—the store will officially open its doors on May 8, 2026.

A Collaborative Venture

This venture is made possible through a joint investment by Mitsubishi Shoji and EAT & HD, leading to the creation of EAT & MS USA Inc., established in October 2024. Mitsubishi Shoji brings comprehensive knowledge and infrastructure in the food supply chain, while EAT & HD has extensive experience in restaurant management, particularly in the Asian cuisine sector. Combining these strengths positions OSAKA OHSHO for competitive growth in the U.S. market, making a significant impact on the dining landscape.

The Concept: Gyoza as the Star

The new flagship store embraces a unique concept—positioning Gyoza as the centerpiece of the dining experience rather than merely a side dish. It aims to redefine Gyoza within American dining culture, emphasizing its role as a staple of Japanese cuisine. This is not just a restaurant opening; it’s part of a broader effort to export Japanese food culture globally.

Customers can look forward to a menu featuring 30 distinct varieties of Gyoza, crafted with care and attention to local tastes. The restaurant will also enhance the dining experience by integrating Japan's ‘Shoku-Tabi’ culture, combining food and drinking, creating a space that encourages social interaction and enjoyment.

An Immersive Experience

To elevate customer engagement, OSAKA OHSHO plans to introduce a range of innovations in food service, such as table-side preparation for select dishes like ‘Mapo Omurice,’ turning cooking into a captivating show. This approach ensures the entire visit is memorable, going beyond just a meal to a full-fledged dining event.

Additionally, the drink menu will feature around 40 to 50 options, including beer, sake, wine, and shochu highballs, enabling patrons to enjoy expertly curated pairings with their Gyoza.

Strategic Location

The choice of Sawtelle Boulevard is strategic. This area is not only a hotspot for Japanese food but also frequented by tourists seeking authentic Japanese dining. The location is surrounded by residential neighborhoods, ensuring a steady influx of local customers as well, making it ideal for building brand awareness and community ties.

Looking to the Future

As the restaurant industry faces challenges such as rising ingredient costs and labor shortages, OSAKA OHSHO’s LA location is not just a short-term profit venture. Instead, it lays the groundwork for future expansion across California and ultimately across the United States. EAT & MS USA aims for sustainable growth by establishing stable local supply chains and leveraging social media for brand recognition.

Through collaboration and innovative marketing strategies, OSAKA OHSHO aspires to integrate successfully into the American culinary scene, ensuring that the beloved Gyoza is finally celebrated in its own right. The grand opening in 2026 is just the beginning of a bold new chapter for OSAKA OHSHO in North America.
