Currently, there are more than 1,600 BTL Certified products in operation worldwide, playing vital roles in various applications including HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), lighting, energy management, access control, fire safety, and more.
The award-winning submission also emphasized the program's positive environmental impact. A 2026 study from the University of New Hampshire's Civil and Environmental Engineering Department revealed that BACnet-enabled systems, specifically those that have passed the BTL certification, have helped prevent approximately 1.4 billion metric tons of CO2 equivalent emissions globally from 1995 to 2025. This is projected to escalate to 2.06 billion tons by 2030, as the adoption of these energy-efficient technologies continues to rise.
