Ghostworks Marine Achieves Landmark Cert for Zero-Emission Vessels in California

Ghostworks Marine Receives Special California Certification

Ghostworks Marine, a pioneering force in advanced maritime design and composite shipbuilding, recently announced its certification by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to develop and manufacture zero-emission electric-powered vessels. This achievement represents a major milestone for the company, as it positions Ghostworks at the forefront of the global push towards sustainable marine transportation.

This certification allows Ghostworks to provide innovative electric vessels to a range of clients, including private companies and public transit agencies across California. According to Britt Ward, Chief Naval Architect at Ghostworks, "Our vessels are engineered with a unique focus on performance, safety, and efficiency. This certification not only enables us to deliver advanced electric-powered vessels but also aligns with our mission to revolutionize the maritime industry. We are committed to contributing towards California's ambitious zero-emission goals, thus helping preserve our oceans and coastal ecosystems."

The Clean Off-Road Equipment Voucher Incentive Project (CORE), overseen by CARB, is an initiative aimed at promoting the use of zero-emission off-road vehicles. Through CORE, California businesses and government entities can apply for vouchers that significantly reduce the costs associated with electric equipment, facilitating the transition to greener alternatives.

Ghostworks’ electric-powered vessels, including notable models like Minerva and ECTO-10, qualify for CORE incentives, enabling transit authorities and private companies to invest in eco-friendly maritime transportation solutions. These vessels are designed to meet rigorous performance standards while substantially minimizing harmful emissions and operational costs.

The ECTO-10 is particularly notable for its shallow draft catamaran hull and battery-electric dual outboard propulsion systems, boasting enhanced efficiency and maneuverability – making it perfect for urban ferry routes. On the other hand, the Minerva, constructed on Ghostworks' unique 14-meter M-Hull platform, employs cutting-edge carbon fiber materials combined with an innovative hull design, providing unmatched speed, stability, and durability. Ryon Warren, Executive Vice President of Engineering and Innovation at Ghostworks, noted, "In Minerva, we see tremendous potential for increased passenger or cargo capacities along with longer operational routes. We are collaborating closely with industry leaders in hybrid diesel-electric propulsion to deliver a vessel that sets a new standard in the low-emissions maritime transport sector."

Ghostworks’ certified vessels can be explored on the CORE website, giving potential buyers and stakeholders an opportunity to witness the future of maritime transport firsthand.

Ghostworks has established itself as a leading innovator in modern shipbuilding, merging advanced engineering practices, expert craftsmanship, and sustainable measures to produce vessels defined by performance and reliability. Focused on both commercial and defense sectors, the company is dedicated to pushing the limits of naval architecture and is committed to sustainable practices that are essential in today’s environment-conscious marketplace. Founded in 2022 with its manufacturing hub located in Holland, Michigan, Ghostworks aims to redefine maritime innovation while providing dependable, future-ready vessels for clients globally.
