Exploring Career Perspectives: DOMINISTA CHALLENGE at Dormy Inn Hirosaki
In an age where societal and economic uncertainties loom large, the importance of hands-on career education can't be overstated. Aimed at nurturing career perspectives among youngsters, the DOMINISTA CHALLENGE program, organized by Kyoritsu Maintenance Co., will take place at Dormy Inn Hirosaki from July 3rd to 4th, 2025, targeting students from Hirosaki City’s Hokusho Middle School.
What is DOMINISTA CHALLENGE?
Since its inception in 2019, the DOMINISTA CHALLENGE has been a pioneering career exploration initiative rolled out at various hotels across Japan. This program is designed to provide middle and high school students with real-world experience through tasks such as front desk operations, housekeeping, and bed-making. Participants will gain insights into the workings of the hospitality industry and the significance of service to others – all while developing a sense of attachment to their local community.
With globalization on the rise, engaging in a hotel-based career program offers students a lively and enriching environment to understand multicultural coexistence. This initiative has already seen successful implementation in four schools across the Tohoku region, with twelve students benefiting thus far.
Program Objectives
The primary objectives of the DOMINISTA CHALLENGE are to instill essential work-related skills and values in students, as well as to deepen their thinking regarding their career choices. This two-day event will include:
- - Date: July 3rd (10:00 AM - 3:00 PM) and July 4th (9:30 AM - 3:00 PM), 2025
- - Lectures on: Job descriptions, the excitement of working in hotels, and departmental roles
- - Hands-on Experiences:
- Front desk operations and customer service training
- Facility management, including room inspections and preparations ahead of the large public bath's opening
- Breakfast tasting experience
Testimonial from Hokusho Middle School
A representative from Hokusho Middle School emphasized the program’s dual aims: to enable students to encounter professionals and reflect on the meaning of work, and to experience both the challenges and fulfillment of employment. The hope is that the students will achieve these aims over the course of two significant days.
Insights from Dormy Inn Hirosaki's Manager
Masahiro Akimoto, the manager of Dormy Inn Hirosaki, added, "By experiencing both the joys and challenges of working in a hotel, students can envision what their future work life may be like. We strive to provide all necessary support to help them make informed decisions regarding their career paths."
Background and Future Outlook
In this unpredictable era, providing students with opportunities to grasp the essence and fulfillment of work is critical. There's a pressing need to cultivate individuals who cherish their local communities and are willing to tackle regional challenges, especially as population decline continues to be an issue. Kyoritsu Maintenance aims to show children the joy of work while fostering their attachment to the local area, encouraging them to think proactively about their futures and the future of their communities.
