MakerWorld's Charity Design Contest: A Global Initiative for Kids Battling Cancer



In an inspiring move that blends creativity with compassion, MakerWorld held its first user-initiated charity design contest aimed at benefiting children undergoing treatment for cancer. This initiative saw an overwhelming participation of 1,008 creators who submitted a total of 2,056 models. The contest was designed to produce 3D-printed gifts for kids in cancer wards, highlighting the power of community-driven goodwill.

Launched in support of the Pieksekisten project—translated as “comfort boxes” in German—this contest was the culmination of a heartfelt mission conceived by Pascal Neumann after his son faced a fierce battle with pediatric medulloblastoma, a type of brain tumor. Seeing the emotional toll often faced by children during treatment, Pascal and his partner Silke sought ways to provide small moments of joy amidst the challenging hospital environment.
