Equip Exposition Unveils Winning Small Batch Bourbon: Equip Reserve 42 Backyard Blend

Equip Exposition Launches Unique Bourbon: Equip Reserve 42 Backyard Blend

Equip Exposition is thrilled to announce the launch of its inaugural small batch bourbon, Equip Reserve 42: Backyard Blend, set to debut at the upcoming Equip Exposition, taking place from October 21-24 at the Kentucky Exposition Center. This signature bourbon, already a recipient of a prestigious award from the American Distilling Institute, highlights the rich heritage of Kentucky bourbon, making it a fitting tribute as the host state for this event.

The Story Behind the Name

The unique name for this bourbon was conceived by Sam Meagher, the owner of Sam I Am Outdoor Services, who has been a steadfast attendee of the Equip Exposition since 2021. Sam was inspired to submit his idea during a naming contest earlier this year, wanting to capture a catchy and memorable title that resonates with both the event and the landscaping community. He describes it as something “Equip Expo-y,” emphasizing its connection to lawn care and the sentiment that it evokes within the industry.

The creation of this blend marks the beginning of a new tradition at Equip Exposition, and only 232 bottles will be available, ensuring a collector's appeal. Attendees can sample this exclusive bourbon at the Louisville Tourism booth on October 22 from 3 to 5 PM.

Craftsmanship and Heritage

Crafted by a local Kentucky distiller, Backyard Blend encapsulates the essence of Kentucky's renowned bourbon-making legacy. Kris Kiser, President and CEO of the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute (OPEI), expressed enthusiasm for this new offering, highlighting how it was named by an event attendee, further strengthening the community ties within the Equip Exposition.

“The name embodies a relatable sentiment for many in the landscaping industry,” said Kiser. He remarked on the excitement surrounding the launch and the positive reception it has already received, including a Silver Medal from the American Distilling Institute's recent competition.

A Network of Knowledge

Sam Meagher shared his perspective on the event, urging others in the landscaping field to take full advantage of all that Equip Exposition has to offer. Beyond the equipment showcased, he emphasizes the educational opportunities available, including classes and sessions with various vendors. He encourages attendees to engage with their peers, highlighting the invaluable networking aspect of the show.

“Find someone who’s slightly ahead of you in the business; they can mentor you,” he advises, underlining the strong sense of community fostered at the expo.

Creating Lasting Traditions

Bringing a team to the event is another strategy Sam recommends, as it allows more individuals to gain insights into the industry’s potential. He fondly likens the expo to a “Super Bowl” not just for equipment but for networking, collaboration, and mutual growth. Last year saw over 28,500 attendees, all eager to gain actionable knowledge to elevate their businesses.

Equip Exposition, celebrated as one of the top five largest trade shows in the U.S., continues to be an annual highlight for landscaping, outdoor living, and equipment professionals. Established as a Trade Show Executive Gold 100 Grand Award Winner, Equip is not only about showcasing products but also about nurturing an ecosystem for learning and connection.
