The Grand Finale of the 2024 Global Pitch Competition
The 2024 PHBS-CJBS Global Pitch Competition took place on December 5, 2024, at the Peking University HSBC Business School (PHBS) in Shenzhen, China. This prestigious event was jointly organized by PHBS and the Cambridge Judge Business School (CJBS) to showcase the innovative prowess of startups from around the globe.
Overview of the Competition
Kicking off in January, the competition attracted an impressive
506 applications from various countries, marking a significant interest in entrepreneurial endeavors. After a rigorous evaluation process, only 36 projects made it to the semifinals, culminating in the final showdown featuring ten standout competitors.
The competing startups represented diverse fields, notably
artificial intelligence,
biotechnology, and

Among the distinguished finalists, the company
Shanmu (Shenzhen) Biotechnology Co. Ltd. claimed the top prize. Founded in London in 2021, this innovative startup specializes in health monitoring through discreet, continuous surveillance. Their flagship product is a fully automated spectral robot, no larger than a computer mouse, capable of performing multiple quantitative analyses of urine. The solutions provided by Shanmu are aimed at enhancing digital health assessments for individuals and families.
In second place were notable contenders
I2Cool,
Wayo, and
XZD Material Technology, while companies like
Daosheng Biological and
BrainThink secured the third spot. This competitive landscape was a vivid display of ambition and technological advancement.
Entrepreneurship Forum
Alongside the grand finale, a
Bay Area Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital Forum was held, aimed at fostering discussions around enterprise growth and investment trends. During the event, a strategic partnership was established between PHBS, the China-Britain Business Council (CBBC), and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC). This alliance seeks to deepen international cooperation and support sustainable growth within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area.
The forum featured two roundtable discussions. The first, titled
“A Vision for the Future: Breakthroughs in Business and Transformation in the New Era”, explored themes such as
Industry + AI and innovation transformations. The second discussion focused on
innovation development in enterprises and the prevailing venture capital trends, covering investment strategies and enhanced productivity through innovative practices.
