XCMG XCA4000 Reaches New Heights in Green Energy
A remarkable milestone in the world of green energy has been achieved in Inner Mongolia with the deployment of the
XCMG XCA4000, an independently developed, all-terrain crane weighing
4,000 tons. This impressive machinery has taken center stage at the construction of
Ordos's zero-carbon industrial park, marking a significant step towards sustainable infrastructure. The facility is a joint venture between the municipal authorities of Ordos and
Envision Technology Group and is recognized as the first fully operational zero-carbon industrial park globally.
This innovative park is powered entirely by
100% green electricity, with a staggering
80% coming from renewable energy sources such as wind and solar, while the remaining
20% is supplied by green energy purchased from the grid. Thus, the integration of the XCA4000 crane into the wind-solar-storage project, which boasts a capacity of
500 MW, underlines its role in advancing sustainable energy solutions.
Designed primarily for the installation of towering wind turbines, the XCA4000 can handle hub heights reaching
190 meters, with a maximum generator capacity of
15 MW. The crane is fueled by a robust
Weichai diesel engine delivering
566 kW of power, demonstrating both power and efficiency critical for such demanding tasks. With
11 axles measuring
29.7 meters in length, all of which are steering, and eight of them being driven, maneuverability is extraordinary, enabling smooth operation even in complex environments.
In a spectacular display of capability, the XCA4000 recently lifted a wind turbine nacelle and drive train weighing
117 tons, along with
35-ton blades stretching
118 meters long, to a dizzying height of
190 meters, equivalent to a
60-story building. Such accomplishments highlight the crane's proficiency in managing multiple processes, including lifting, rotation, alignment, and positioning, all executed with impressive precision.
Operators have praised the machine's smooth handling, noting its usability despite its large size. Mr. Yang, the crane operator, noted, “The crane is easy to operate considering its 11-axle configuration. The various driving modes provide exceptional flexibility.” During the installation of the
12.5 MW hybrid tower wind turbine, currently the tallest on the planet, the crane accomplished both lifts in just over
twenty minutes each.
The achievements of the XCMG XCA4000 not only illustrate the company’s commitment to providing high-end, smart, and eco-friendly solutions for the global market but also signify China’s proactive stance towards environmental advancement. As the world increasingly transitions to renewable energy, such innovations are imperative. XCMG stands at the forefront of these developments, contributing significantly to the global green energy industry while tackling the challenges associated with high-capacity wind turbine installations.
This groundbreaking work at the Ordos site not only indicates a forward leap in construction technology and renewable energy but also sets a precedent for future projects in sustainable infrastructure and energy solutions worldwide.
The successful installation reaffirms the capabilities of the XCA4000 as a pivotal solution in the growing sector of green energy, demonstrating how advanced machinery can contribute positively to our environmental goals.
