Pokémon Takes Center Stage in Physical Education
In an exciting initiative, the Japan Sports Association (JSPO) is bringing beloved Pokémon characters to elementary and middle school students across the nation. In the upcoming October 14, 2025 issue of the wall newspaper "JSPO Sports Medicine & Science info," two iconic Pokémon, Magikarp and Geodude, will take the spotlight. This initiative aims to create an engaging environment for sports participation and appreciation among children.
The wall newspaper will introduce two playful activities based on the JSPO-ACP (Active Child Program). These activities, creatively named "Run Away! Magikarp!" and "Roll On! Geodude!", are adaptations of traditional movement games such as fish catching and cradle games. This unique approach will encourage physical activity in a fun and motivating way, making exercise enjoyable for kids.
What's more, the October 2025 issue isn't the last time the Pokémon will appear in this educational program—additional issues scheduled for December and February are set to feature more Pokémon-themed activities. The overarching goal is to foster a love for sports and physical activity, contributing positively to children's growth, development, and overall fitness.
