Children Experience Nature with Horse Racing and Planting Event in Aichi Farm!

Enriching Children’s Lives at Aichi Farm

On May 16, 2026, the Aichi Farm, operated by Open House Group's Nagoya branch, hosted an incredible event titled 'BOUNCE PARK in Aichi Farm Vol.8.' The theme of the day revolved around providing a special opportunity where children can fully utilize their bodies and minds within nature, featuring two fantastic experiences: the horse racing event 'OPEN HOUSE Memorial Cup' and a sweet potato seedling planting activity.

Exciting Physical Activity with Horses

The horse racing event became the highlight of the day. Eighty children, mainly sixth graders and below, participated in this thrilling contest. Running alongside real horses on a sandy track, kids felt the power of these majestic creatures up close. Many voices of excitement and mixed feelings emerged, with comments like, “I was thrilled to race against the horses!” and “If I had better footing, I might have won!” This physical challenge not only thrilled the participants but also inspired a spirit of challenge and joy in experiencing nature actively.

Learning the Value of Nature through Planting

After the exhilarating races, it was time for a quieter yet equally enriching experience—the sweet potato seedling planting. Collaborating with Aichi Farm, Open House established a special plot named 'Open House Farm' within the flower fields, where families had the opportunity to plant 100 seedlings at this exclusive event for 30 families. Children learned to appreciate the value of food and develop curiosity about nature by touching the soil and planting each seedling with care. This hands-on experience reinforced their understanding of the food cycle, from planting to harvesting.

The planting activity also allows kids to nurture the seedlings they planted, which they will later harvest in October during the 'Sweet Potato Digging Experience.' This program emphasizes the connection between planting and harvesting, enabling children to taste the fruits of their labor later in the year.

Future Events and Community Engagement

Looking ahead, Aichi Farm plans more engaging activities for kids. The October experience will provide an opportunity for the children to reap the rewards of their labor by digging up the sweet potatoes they planted. This journey not only cultivates a sense of responsibility and accomplishment but also enhances their connection with the local community and its agricultural practices. Aichi Farm is committed to supporting a bright future and healthy development for children by fostering a love for nature.

Message from Aichi Farm

the publicity department at Aichi Farm expressed their delight in witnessing the joy of both horses and children during the event. They noted the horses' transition to a more lively and energetic stride as the event progressed. Moreover, the sweet potatoes planted were of the variety 'Beni Haruka,' perfect for making delicious baked sweet potatoes with a rich, sweet flavor.

As the potatoes grow, Aichi Farm promises to manage their care until the harvest date, expected in mid-October. The aim is to promote learning about agriculture and appreciation for the land through hands-on experiences.
