UCO Named Exclusive MLS Provider to Transform Indian Real Estate Market

A New Era for Indian Real Estate with UCO and NAR India

In a groundbreaking partnership, Universal Consulting Opportunities (UCO), a subsidiary of Stellar MLS, has joined forces with the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) India to cultivate a new and modern Multiple Listing Service (MLS) for the Indian real estate market. This collaboration represents a significant milestone, aimed at elevating professionalism and transparency within one of the world's fastest-growing real estate markets.

The announcement came on September 26, 2025, during a press conference highlighting the vast potential of India’s real estate scene, which is projected to surpass $1 trillion by 2030. With an internet penetration that touches nearly all corners of the nation and a sophisticated digital payment ecosystem, India stands at the cusp of a real estate revolution that embraces technology and data integrity.

MLS Pilot Program in Mumbai

As part of this strategic initiative, UCO and NAR India will kick off a pilot project for the MLS in Mumbai. This initiative has been likened to the metropolitan areas in New York, reflecting both the ambition and scope of the project. The pilot aims to establish an innovative information-sharing network that will serve all stakeholders in the real estate sector, from agents and brokers to buyers and developers.

NAR India, which serves as a national voice for the real estate profession, encompasses over 40 local associations and more than 50,000 real estate professionals across the country. Their established presence will play a crucial role in shaping the direction of the MLS in accordance with local market realities, ensuring the system remains responsive and accessible.

Expected Impact

Merri Jo Cowen, CEO of UCO and Stellar MLS, expressed her excitement about the partnership, indicating that it will streamline transactions, foster growth opportunities for various professionals, and lay the groundwork for a sustainable real estate market in India. “This collaboration highlights our dedication to supporting organizations while expanding our global reach,” she stated.

Furthermore, the partnership will create pathways for Indian investors looking toward the American real estate market. Indians, known as the fourth largest group of foreign buyers in the U.S., accounted for 6% of international real estate transactions, with a median purchase price reflecting the broader national average. Meanwhile, non-resident Indians are driving demand for domestic real estate, and this collaboration aims to bridge these two markets effectively.

A Transformative Opportunity

Tarun Bhatia, Vice President and Global President of NAR India, articulated that this ride towards transformation goes beyond enhancing data access and member growth. “It’s an opportunity to harness global best practices, instill trust among real estate professionals, and equip our members to thrive in a genuinely interconnected marketplace,” he remarked.

The collaboration establishes a bilateral relationship, creating a foundation for mutual benefit where Indian buyers can confidently navigate the U.S. market, while promoting domestic investments back in India. By aligning international standards and fostering cross-border trust, UCO and NAR India aim to build a real estate market that is not only transparent but also competitive on a global scale.

This initiative promises to elevate the standards of real estate practice in India, making it a model for other nations with emerging markets. The future is bright for the Indian real estate sector as UCO and NAR India embark on this transformative journey together, ensuring that the industry's strengths reflect India's growing influence on the global stage.
