The inaugural recipient, Tyler Steele, who serves as the Vice President of Medical Relations for CeraVe, La Roche-Posay, and Vichy, was recognized for his unwavering support and contributions to the field of dermatology over the years.
WDS President for the 2024-2025 term, Dr. Latanya Benjamin, proudly presented the award, reflecting on the importance of honoring individuals who dedicate their career to advancing dermatology and supporting healthcare initiatives. "I am incredibly proud to have had the privilege of launching the new WDS Industry Champion Award during my presidential year, and to honor Tyler Steele as its first recipient," said Dr. Benjamin. This moment was one of significant importance, not just for the society, but for the community of women dermatologists as well.
Tyler Steele’s distinguished career, spanning over 15 years in dermatology and 20 years in over-the-counter skincare, has been marked by his impactful contributions to marketing, new product development, and media relations. Steele expressed his gratitude by stating, "When I reflect on what I cherish most about dermatology, two aspects immediately come to mind: the profound and invaluable connections we forge within this community, and the unique ability we have, as healthcare partners in dermatology, to make rapid, tangible improvements in patients' lives." He acknowledged the support of L'Oréal Dermatological Beauty, highlighting their commitment to the WDS's mission for healthier skin.
Mona Gohara, MD, the WDS President for the previous term (2022-2023), articulated that the decision to select Steele for this prestigious award stemmed from his long-standing support of the WDS and the remarkable impact he has made in dermatology. "He has been a true 'champion' for our society.
