Vantage Foundation Partners with KDM Foundation to Support Jakarta's Street Children

Partnership for Change

In a significant move to enhance the lives of street children in Jakarta, the Vantage Foundation has recently formed a partnership with the KDM Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming the lives of homeless youth through education and creativity.

A Holistic Approach to Development

During a recent visit to the KDM campus, members of the Vantage Foundation were warmly received by Sotar Sinaga, the executive director of KDM. Sinaga emphasized the organization's holistic approach to youth development, which goes beyond just providing shelter. KDM fosters an engaging and empowering environment where children can explore their potential through activities such as painting, crafts, soccer, and environmental education.

In observing KDM’s self-sufficient ecosystem, the Vantage team noted its small farm housing chickens and catfish, alongside an organic waste management system. These initiatives not only meet practical needs but also educate the children about sustainability, responsibility, and self-sufficiency.

An especially poignant moment came when the team learned about the “Pepe Doll” art project. Collaborating with the local brand Tulisan, this initiative aims to raise funds to directly support KDM’s mission of providing education and shelter to children in need. The project is inspired by a heartwarming story of a young girl searching for food on the streets.

Building Trust Through Sports

KDM's activities extend well beyond the confines of the campus. One of the most effective engagement tools is soccer. Not merely a sport, soccer serves as a platform for teaching discipline, cooperation, and teamwork. By organizing community matches, KDM builds trust and opens doors for at-risk youth to find safety, support, and purpose in life.

“We don’t call this fundraising; we refer to it as friend-raising,” stated Sotar Sinaga. “Without friends, we wouldn’t be able to run our school or carry out these life-changing projects. It’s the community that allows us to operate.”

Through this collaboration, Vantage Foundation proudly supports KDM in its mission to create a better future for children from impoverished families in Indonesia. The joy, resilience, and creativity witnessed during the visit left a profound impact on the Vantage team and reaffirmed the importance of investing in early, inclusive support for at-risk youth.

Shared Vision of Hope

“The environment at KDM is filled with hope and opportunity,” remarked Steven Xie, executive director of Vantage Foundation. “Every child we met had a spark of potential, and with such partnerships, we can help them realize it. We are honored to support KDM’s incredible work and aid in amplifying its impact.”

Together, Vantage Foundation and KDM are not just building shelters but nurturing confidence, connection, and a brighter future. This partnership represents yet another significant stride in Vantage Foundation’s ongoing efforts to elevate communities and instigate lasting change.
