FMC and Corteva Join Forces to Enhance Fungicide Availability for U.S. Growers

FMC Corporation and Corteva's Strategic Partnership

FMC Corporation (NYSE: FMC), a prominent player in the global agricultural sciences sector, has announced a strategic collaboration with Corteva Agriscience to enhance the availability of fluindapyr fungicide technology to United States growers. This powerful fungicide will soon be accessible to a broader audience in the U.S. corn and soybean markets, helping producers combat tough foliar diseases like tar spot and southern rust.

With the agreement, FMC and Corteva will jointly promote products that incorporate fluindapyr for U.S. corn and soybean farmers. FMC plans to continue to market Adastrio®, its existing fungicide product, while also developing additional fungicide products that are based on fluindapyr technology. Furthermore, Corteva anticipates launching a fluindapyr-based product at the start of the 2026 growing season, contingent upon necessary approvals from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Ronaldo Pereira, President of FMC, highlighted, “This strategic agreement will introduce FMC’s innovative fluindapyr technology into a broader segment of the U.S. corn and soybean markets, which represent roughly 95 million and 80 million planted acres, respectively.” He believes that through this partnership with Corteva, they are enabling more growers to access effective methods for managing destructive diseases, thereby protecting their crops and maximizing their profits.

The fluindapyr active ingredient in Adastrio® fungicide is distinguished for its extended residual control. It adeptly manages pathogens that have developed resistance to alternative fungicide classes—a crucial aspect of effective resistance management in agriculture today. The Fungicide Resistance Action Committee (FRAC) categorizes fluindapyr as a Group 7 fungicide, denoting its significance in pest management strategies.

Jeremy Dirks, President of Corteva North America, expressed the company's commitment to ensuring that farmers are equipped with the necessary tools for successful crop growth and harvest. “With the novel active ingredient, fluindapyr, we can provide growers an additional effective disease management tool that complements our existing fungicides,” he stated.

FMC has already commercialized fluindapyr-containing products in several countries, including Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Paraguay, South Korea, and now the United States. Anticipating further opportunities, FMC looks toward launching the same products in markets like Chile, Honduras, India, and Ukraine as regulatory circumstances permit.
