Catalight Academy Enhances Global Education Offerings
Catalight Academy has marked a significant milestone in its ongoing mission to improve education for behavioral health practitioners and parents by securing new accreditations from industry-leading organizations. Recently awarded by the International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) and the Qualified Applied Behavior Analysis Credentialing Board (QABA), these accreditations not only affirm the quality of Catalight Academy's programs but also reflect its commitment to offering rigorous and high-quality continuing education.
Officially launched at the beginning of the year, Catalight Academy serves as a digital learning platform evolving from the previously established Catalight Classroom. This innovative platform already provided continuing education units (CEUs) for key licenses and certifications in autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). The recent addition of IACET CEUs, recognized across various professions such as education and healthcare, along with QABA CEUs tailored for autism professionals, marks a significant expansion of the Academy’s offerings.
Brianna Fitchett, Catalight's vice president of clinical impact, highlighted the pressing need for well-trained clinicians in the field of autism and related disabilities. She stated, "The need for clinicians trained in autism and related disabilities continues to outpace supply." By offering accredited CEUs and comprehensive education, the Academy aims to prepare a larger number of providers to effectively serve clients, thereby reducing wait times and enhancing service accessibility, ultimately improving outcomes for clients and their families.
Moreover, Catalight Academy conducts instruction through a highly skilled faculty drawn from one of the largest behavioral health networks within the U.S. - Catalight. With the intent of fostering career development among autism professionals worldwide, the Academy continuously broadens its curriculum to include five certificate programs alongside specialized courses and webinars.
“The IACET accreditation allows us to offer CEUs to a wider array of professionals,” Fitchett mentioned, acknowledging that this expansion might include those not specializing in autism or I/DD but still seeking ways to support these communities. The QABA accreditation further underlines Catalight Academy's role in promoting career growth among autism professionals globally.
In addition to providing IACET and QABA CEUs, the Academy also offers units directed at psychologists, behavior analysts, speech-language pathologists, and marriage and family therapists. This ensures that practitioners can maintain their credentials while keeping abreast of evidence-based interventions as they work to expand access for individuals requiring support in I/DD settings.
The continuing education programs offered by Catalight Academy are designed with a focus on efficient, outcome-driven care that does not heavily rely on high in-person treatment hours. Some selected courses are tailored for students who aspire to build a career in the I/DD sector, or for caregivers keen on understanding their child’s distinctive needs and complexities.
