Transforming Airport Healthcare: OnMed Launches Nation's First CareStation at Bradley International Airport

A New Era of Healthcare for Travelers

In a groundbreaking move set to reshape airport experiences, Hartford HealthCare, in partnership with OnMed, has introduced the nation's first OnMed CareStation located in Terminal A at Bradley International Airport. This pioneering initiative aims to make healthcare more accessible to millions of travelers and airport staff alike, reimagining how and where healthcare services are delivered.

With thousands of passengers passing through Bradley every day, this innovative health hub allows users to receive high-quality virtual healthcare in a private setting without ever leaving the terminal. Jeffrey A. Flaks, President and CEO of Hartford HealthCare, emphasized the organization's commitment to expanding healthcare access through innovative methods, stating, "We are proud to support the travelers who pass through Bradley every day and to make high-quality care more convenient, more connected, and more accessible than ever before."

How It Works

The OnMed CareStation is equipped with cutting-edge technology, including high-definition cameras and real-time diagnostic tools. Users can connect virtually with licensed clinicians for one-on-one consultations. During these sessions, medical professionals can offer evaluations, diagnoses, and even prescribe treatments within minutes.

"Bradley International Airport is more than a travel hub; it's now a doorway to immediate, high-quality care," said Karthik Ganesh, CEO of OnMed. This statement underscores the essence of the CareStation's purpose, aiming to provide timely healthcare access to both travelers and airport employees finishing their shifts. No appointment is necessary, and the CareStation operates seven days a week, further enhancing its value.

Services Offered

The CareStation is equipped to address up to 85% of conditions typically seen in primary care. This includes common issues such as respiratory illnesses, infections, headaches, allergies, and heartburn. Along with immediate diagnosis and treatment options, patients can receive e-prescriptions and referrals, making follow-up care seamless. The entire process ensures that patients' visits are securely documented, making coordination with other healthcare providers much easier.

Advanced features of the CareStation include:
  • - Privacy-enhancing fogging and locking doors: Ensures confidentiality during consultations.
  • - No-appointment required: Users can seek care at their convenience.
  • - Extended hours: Designed to match the schedules of travelers and airport staff.
  • - Bilingual support: Helping to cater to a diverse population.

A Growing Network

The addition of the CareStation at Bradley expands OnMed's network of convenient healthcare options provided by Hartford HealthCare, which also includes GoHealth Urgent Care, HHC at Walgreens, and several others. The CareStation at the airport joins two existing CareStations located at Stop & Shop in Killingly Commons and The Village in downtown Hartford, which currently serve approximately 100 patients per month. This number is projected to rise significantly with the introduction of the CareStation in a high-traffic travel environment.
