Settlement Reached in Class Action for Ready-Mix Concrete Customers in Savannah Area
A significant development has emerged for individuals who purchased ready-mix concrete from companies such as Lafarge, Argos, Coastal, Thomas, Evans, or Elite in the greater Savannah area between January 1, 2010, and July 31, 2016. A class action lawsuit filed against these companies has resulted in settlements that may impact the rights of many concrete consumers in the region.
The legal firms CohenMalad, LLP, Heins Mills & Olson, P.L.C., and Preti, Flaherty, Beliveau & Pachios LLP have announced that settlements have been reached with Thomas Concrete, Inc., and Evans Concrete, LLC, as part of the ongoing litigation concerning unfair pricing practices in the ready-mix concrete market. The lawsuit, identified as Pro Slab, Inc., et al. v. Argos USA LLC, et al., was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina and is scheduled to proceed to trial in October 2025.
According to the lawsuit, these companies were allegedly involved in a conspiracy from 2010 to 2016 to unlawfully raise, fix, and maintain the prices of ready-mix concrete sold in specific plants within the area. This collusion has prompted legal action to seek restitution for consumers who may have overpaid for these products.
