Luup Partners with HACHI-8 PROJECT to Enhance Art Experience in Shibuya

Luup and HACHI-8 PROJECT: A Journey Through Art in Shibuya

Luup, a company based in Shinagawa, Tokyo, is set to play a significant role in the upcoming HACHI-8 PROJECT, which will take place from August 7 to August 9, 2026. This initiative, spearheaded by the HACHI-8 PROJECT Executive Committee alongside the Shibuya Tourist Association and the Hachiko Statue Preservation Society, aims to reinterpret the cultural significance of Hachiko—Shibuya’s symbol of meeting and gathering—in a modern context through art.

The HACHI-8 PROJECT is themed around “ART” and will feature over 88 works from 88 artists, as selected by eight curators, displayed at various venues throughout Shibuya. The main venue will be the Seibu Shibuya Store, while additional artworks will be showcased at eight satellite locations across the district. This project not only celebrates the beloved Hachiko but also strives to connect people and cultivate cultural appreciation through artistic expression.

Since launching its micro-mobility service in Shibuya in 2020, Luup has been committed to enhancing local infrastructure. The company collaborated with Shibuya City in 2021 to implement a partnership agreement aimed at developing new short-distance transportation options. Luup’s involvement has extended to various community initiatives, including participation in clean-up events around Shibuya Station, supporting local educational projects, and playing a vital role in the Shibuya Safe Ride Project, which focuses on creating a safe and mature international urban environment.

As the official mobility partner of the HACHI-8 PROJECT, Luup will facilitate seamless transportation between the various venues, providing visitors with an enriching experience as they explore the artwork throughout Shibuya. Easy mobility will not only improve accessibility to the event but will also encourage attendees to engage actively with the local art scene.

In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy special promotions during the event. Exclusive coupons, allowing three free 30-minute rides, will be distributed to the first 500 visitors. Attendees can use these coupons to explore the event more freely and view a greater number of artworks in different locations.

The event aims to inspire locals and tourists alike to discover Shibuya’s vibrant culture and its artistic offerings. The promotion includes the following details:
  • - Coupon Benefits: Three rides of 30 minutes each at no cost.
  • - Validity Period: Expires on August 20 at 23:59.
  • - Conditions: Applicable for rides originating and returning to LUUP ports within Shibuya.
  • - Distribution Method: Coupons will be available through QR codes at the main venue (Seibu Shibuya).

Moreover, the HACHI-8 PROJECT emphasizes a philosophy of human connections and cultural resonance. Beyond merely displaying artwork, it fosters a space for serendipitous encounters and discoveries as visitors traverse the streets of Shibuya, making the city itself part of the artistic experience.
