In adding depth to its insights, the study findings were categorized further by the Combined Positive Score (CPS) — an indicator of tumor response to immunotherapy. Notably, an 83% response rate was observed in patients exhibiting a high CPS (>20), while those with a low CPS (1-19) achieved a 67% response rate, revealing potential advantages even in demographics previously thought to have limited treatment response.

Another substantial data highlight indicated that 14 patients treated with combined therapies in second-line or later settings also yielded intriguing results, achieving a response rate of 42.9%, which included one complete response and five partial responses. Here, the median progression-free survival observed was 2.9 months, favorably contrasting with the current standard treatments, which usually see response rates of only 10-15%.

Professor Hye Ryun Kim, a renowned figure in oncology at Yonsei University Severance Hospital and the study's first author, emphasized during the conference that these interim outcomes underscore the unique therapeutic potential of Tosposertib as an innovative option in R/M HNSCC treatment. "These findings are crucial for a patient population that has struggled with limited treatment options and poor prognoses. We believe Tosposertib can address the deficiencies of current therapies," she noted.
