Synopsis of "Paraiso no Umi"

"Paraiso no Umi" presents the story of Amakusa Shirō, a charismatic figure surrounded by mystery, who galvanized Christian communities leading up to the Shimabara Rebellion 388 years ago. The drama unfolds on Dan-gō Island, where Christians and their allies convened to strategize against oppressive feudal lords. Through a series of propaganda and incited resistance, the peasants rose against governmental tyranny, leading to one of the most significant uprisings in Japanese history.
