Tomorrowland 2025: A Triumph of Unity Amidst Adversity

Tomorrowland 2025: A Testament to Unity

Tomorrowland is endorsed not just as a music festival, but as a global gathering of the 'People of Tomorrow' in Boom, Belgium. Each summer, this iconic event attracts hundreds of thousands, promoting not only electronic music but a spirit of creativity and unity encapsulated in the motto: "Live Today, Love Tomorrow, Unite Forever."

However, in 2025, that spirit faced a profound test. Just days before the festival was set to open, a devastating fire struck the main stage, Orbyz, igniting doubts about whether the event could go on. With attendees journeying from around the globe and the crew already on-site, the challenges seemed insurmountable.

PIXELSCREEN.eu, the trusted production company behind Tomorrowland, took charge of on-the-ground coordination and visual recovery. Supported by INFiLED's technical expertise and a host of other suppliers, the team worked tirelessly to maintain the festival's immersive atmosphere and minimize visual disruptions. This event was not merely a story of one organization; it symbolized how a collective production community refused to let the music stop.

Reconstructing the Heart of Tomorrowland

The Orbyz main stage was conceived as a cosmic glacier, towering over 50 meters in height and extending 140 meters in width, featuring radiant surfaces and crystalline shapes central to the festival's visual identity. Unfortunately, during the final pyrotechnic rehearsal, flames engulfed part of the structure. Thankfully, no one was injured, but nearly 75% of the main stage was left in ruins. Cancellation was never considered an option.

Organizers swiftly released a statement mourning the loss of a "vibrant and living world," while reaffirming their dedication to proceed. Frank Verstraeten, CEO of PIXELSCREEN.eu, shared, "The original main stage was destroyed by fire, and we had less than 24 hours to rebuild it. This was only achievable thanks to extremely reliable equipment and rapid installation capabilities."

With limited time, teams assembled a replacement that was sleek and modern—8 meters tall and 70 meters wide—using nearly 700 LED cabinets. The reconstruction called for logistical precision and technical flexibility, augmented by features such as:
  • - Magnesium alloy frames which ensured structural rigidity and stability for precise installations.
  • - Magnet-assisted assembly allowing for rapid and effortless setup.
  • - Positioning pins for quick and accurate alignment.
  • - Quick-lock systems that enabled instant locking with a single hand.
  • - AR Series carts for robust storage and transport, fitting standard truck sizes.

Within hours, hundreds of panels were installed. Coupled with NovaStar's COEX 5G control system, compatible with 5G signal transmission, the control team could adjust the visual output to the adapted layout, ensuring seamless operation. Despite being simpler, the newly reconstructed stage provided a total sensory impact with vibrant displays, synchronized lighting, and powerful sound, demonstrating that the essence of Tomorrowland remained intact.

Continuing Visual Continuity Across the Festival

While teams worked diligently on the Orbyz, numerous festival stages continued offering immersive experiences powered by LED visuals and flawless execution. The Freedom Stage, known for its ambitious technical design, introduced the "Floating Sky," a kinetic LED ceiling installation that morphed light and shape above the audience. Constructed with lightweight, transparent AMT panels from INFiLED, this stage featured a 70% transparency and triangular modular arrangement, creating layered visual effects that allowed light, wind, and sound to mingle freely—a hypnotic atmosphere that transformed continuously during performances.

The Great Library, a recently redesigned vaulted space, showcased animated visuals and live camera feeds through integrated curved LED screens along its arches. Built using AR panels from INFiLED with a ±10° cabinet curvature, this installation enveloped the dome perfectly, fostering an intimate and cinematic atmosphere.

Meanwhile, the CORE Stage returned to Tomorrowland 2025, presenting a visually distinct identity with a central double-sided screen framed by natural landscapes. The immersive design provided a meditative counterpoint to the adrenaline-fueled main areas. This widespread deployment highlighted that LED displays were not mere decorations; they served as a cohesive element throughout Tomorrowland's production architecture, ensuring that the show kept moving throughout the weekend, and the visual magic never dissipated.

A Celebration of Unity

“PIXELSCREEN.eu has exclusively provided all video screens for Tomorrowland for 22 consecutive years,” noted Frank Verstraeten. Tomorrowland 2025 will be remembered not for the fire but for the way the event was organized. In a remarkably short time, engineers, teams, designers, and planners reconstructed what had taken months to build, exemplifying that unity and a shared purpose can overcome any disruption.

“Unite Forever” was not just words on a screen; in 2025, it became a living testament.
