Leadership Changes at Lennox: Joe Nassab Transitions as Geoff Dethlefsen Steps Up

Leadership Transition at Lennox

In a significant leadership shift, Lennox (NYSE: LII), a front-runner in energy-efficient building and home comfort solutions, has announced that Joe Nassab will be stepping down from his role as Executive Vice President and President of Building Climate Solutions at the end of this year. To ensure a smooth transition, Nassab will take on a new role as Strategic Advisor within the company, where he will continue to lend his expertise to guide the organization.

As of January 1, 2027, Geoff Dethlefsen, the current Vice President and General Manager of Lennox Commercial HVAC, will succeed Nassab in leading the Building Climate Solutions segment. This transition was officially announced on November 2, 2026, and marks a pivotal moment for the company as it strengthens its commitment to innovation and operational excellence in the energy-efficient solutions sector.

CEO Alok Maskara expressed deep appreciation for Nassab's contributions, stating, "Joe has made a lasting impact on Lennox through his leadership, industry expertise, and unwavering commitment to our customers and employees." Maskara’s gratitude highlights the transformative journey that Nassab has steered the company through since he joined in 2010 as Vice President and General Manager of Allied Air.

During his tenure, he took the reins of the North American Commercial Heating and Cooling segment, which was eventually renamed Building Climate Solutions. Under his guidance, the segment has evolved into a comprehensive platform that offers not just equipment but a range of services aimed at enhancing customer experience. This evolution included significant initiatives like the acquisition of AES and strategic investments in manufacturing and distribution.

Reflecting on his career with Lennox, Nassab remarked, "It has been a privilege to work alongside the talented teams across Lennox. I am proud of what we have accomplished and confident that Geoff and the Building Climate Solutions team will continue driving the business forward and delivering for our customers."

The momentum established under Nassab's leadership will be crucial for Dethlefsen as he takes on his new role. Maskara emphasized the significance of Dethlefsen's track record, noting his achievements in revenue growth and operational improvements during his time in charge of Lennox's Commercial HVAC division. With more than 20 years of experience in leadership roles ranging from industrial manufacturing to business operations, Dethlefsen is poised to continue expanding the capabilities of the Building Climate Solutions segment.

Dethlefsen joined Lennox only in 2024, but has shown considerable potential since then. He previously served as President of Hammerforce USA and has held key positions at Flowserve Corporation and Boston Consulting Group. Dethlefsen boasts impressive academic credentials with bachelor degrees in mechanical engineering and Spanish from Rice University and an MBA from The University of Texas at Austin.

In his statement, Dethlefsen expressed his eagerness and readiness to lead Building Climate Solutions, saying, "I am honored to lead Building Climate Solutions and build on the strong foundation Joe and the team have established. We will remain focused on serving our customers, strengthening execution, and capturing the significant growth opportunities ahead."

As Lennox gears up for the future, this leadership transition is viewed as a strategic move to not only honor the legacy built by Nassab but also as a forward-looking decision that places the company in a strong position to capture emerging opportunities in the building climate solutions market. With both executive leaders committed to innovation and customer service, Lennox is set to continue its trajectory of growth and excellence in energy-efficient solutions.
