NIJIN Academy Surpasses 500 Enrollments, Supporting Students Not Attending School

NIJIN Academy: A New Hope for Non-Attending Students

As of July 1, 2025, NIJIN Academy, an alternative school for students who do not attend traditional schools, has proudly surpassed 500 enrollments. Managed by NIJIN Corporation, located in Koto, Tokyo, this innovative educational initiative has quickly gained recognition since its inception.

Growth Since Opening: A Remarkable Journey

Founded in September 2023 with just 77 students, NIJIN Academy has experienced an incredible growth rate of 6.5 times in just one year and ten months. Positioned as a groundbreaking "new learning option" in education, the academy has garnered attention from various media platforms, leading to a continuous rise in both enrollment and student retention.

The academy operates under the guiding principle of making public education more accessible. With the motto of "bringing educational opportunities right to students' homes," NIJIN Academy has created a nurturing and high-quality learning environment for children who struggle to attend traditional schools. Top-tier educators offer engaging lessons while also integrating unique programs like programming and entrepreneurial education. These offerings are complemented by student-led clubs, excursions to major corporations, and presentation contests, all intended to enhance learning experiences and foster connections with society.

Moreover, starting from April 2025, the academy will introduce a career guidance option to alleviate concerns about future pathways and offer diverse choices for students.

Expanding Beyond Virtual: A Hybrid Learning Approach

In a remarkable step towards inclusivity, NIJIN Academy is set to open physical classrooms nationwide beginning September 2024. This initiative combines the energizing metaverse learning environment with real-world experiences, allowing students who have regained their enthusiasm for learning through virtual means to thrive in their local communities. This hybrid approach enables students to receive specialized education while also participating in practical activities a few times a week in physical settings.

For those who find it challenging to fit into conventional school environments, this flexible system offers a personalized learning journey where they can flourish according to their needs. As of now, NIJIN Academy manages 27 physical locations with a goal of reaching 1,000 classrooms throughout the country.

The academy not only aims to cater to the current needs of over 500 students from 38 different prefectures but also strives to dismantle the stigma surrounding non-attendance. By fostering a safe, multi-layered psychological environment, they promote dialogic teaching with first-class educators and encourage projects led by students themselves. This approach removes the associated feelings of inferiority or guilt tied to school absenteeism, aiming instead to create a future filled with hope for all children.

An impressive 90% of enrolled students are expected to obtain attendance recognition from their respective schools, underscoring the academy's commitment to providing valuable educational alternatives.

NIJIN Corporation: Dedicated to Transforming Education

Founded by former elementary school teacher Tatsuhiro Hoshino in April 2022, NIJIN Corporation aims to illuminate the nation through education. Acknowledging the urgent need for changes in the current educational structure, the corporation focuses on instilling hope in educational systems, addressing issues such as absenteeism, teacher shortages, teachers' working conditions, and the overall purpose of schools.
