The 32nd Kineko International Film Festival: A Cinema Haven for Kids in Futako-Tamagawa
The general incorporated association Kineko Film, located in Shibuya, Tokyo, proudly announces the upcoming
32nd Kineko International Film Festival, scheduled to take place from
October 31 to November 4, 2025. This prestigious event transforms the vibrant streets of Futako-Tamagawa into a cinematic paradise dedicated to children.
Since its inception in
1992 with support from the Berlin International Film Festival’s section for children's cinema, the Kineko International Film Festival has evolved into one of Asia's largest film festivals focused on children. This year, around
700 high-quality films aimed at young audiences from all corners of the globe will be screened, with
62 select films (51 in the competition and 11 for special screenings) chosen for their outstanding content. These carefully curated films promise not only moments of joy and excitement but also the exploration of a wide range of emotions, offering both children and adults meaningful insights into societal issues through engaging narratives.
Unique Presentation Style
One remarkable feature of the Kineko International Film Festival is its innovative screening method. The festival presents films in various languages, accompanied by live dubbing performed by professional voice actors. This approach, known as
"live cinema," allows audiences to revel in an immersive experience, akin to being read a storybook while enjoying a film.
This Year's Focus: Polish Cinema
In line with its commitment to fostering international cultural交流 through film, this year’s festival will spotlight
Polish cinema. Renowned as the homeland of composer Chopin, Poland boasts a rich cultural heritage characterized by unique aesthetics and expressive art forms, including films and poster art. Viewers can anticipate a selection of globally acclaimed animations and other original, poetic works from this vibrant nation.
