Starlight Investments Secures Closing of UK BTR Fund II
Starlight Investments, a premier global real estate investment firm, has officially closed its UK Build-to-Rent (BTR) Fund II, garnering a total of
£680 million in capital commitments. This significant milestone demonstrates both investor confidence in Starlight’s strategic approach and the immense potential of the UK rental housing market.
The capital raised will be directed towards the acquisition and construction of over
6,000 rental homes across various locations in the UK, contributing to the country’s pressing need for quality rental housing. Fund II is set to facilitate the development of multiple major rental communities, including
three prominent sites, two in Manchester and one in Basildon, which are already under construction.
Raj Mehta, President of Global Markets at Starlight, expressed enthusiasm regarding the fund's closure, emphasizing it as a validation of their strategy tailored for the UK residential sector. "The successful close of Fund II reflects the strong institutional conviction behind our UK residential strategy and the opportunities we continue to see in the market," he stated, adding that participation came from a diverse set of global investors, including existing and new partners from Europe, APAC, and Canada.
Earlier this year, Fund II also secured a significant commitment from Homes England’s National Housing Bank, which aligns with national efforts to enhance the availability of rental housing.
Jonnie Milich, Head of UK Residential, articulated the focus moving forward: "With Fund II now closed, our focus is on execution and the next phase of growth for our UK residential platform." He noted the establishment of an
experienced local team and a robust pipeline of communities that are either under construction or in charge of leasing and operations.
Starlight Investments has become a key player in the BTR sector, holding a vision to deliver thousands of new rental homes in major regional cities and areas within the London commuter belt that face a significant housing shortage. The firm has a complete range of BTR communities, currently comprising
12 developments in various stages of completion and leasing.
With a commitment to ensuring professionalism in its management approach, Starlight aims to provide superb quality rental housing that meets the demands of strong rental markets. For over three decades, Starlight has established itself as a leader in real estate investment and asset management, demonstrating consistent performance and responsible managerial practices across its real estate strategies.
In summary, the successful closing of UK BTR Fund II marks an important chapter in Starlight’s ongoing pursuit of transforming the UK rental landscape, ensuring the delivery of much-needed housing while securing returns for its investors.
