CPI's New Tactical Portable Antennas Gain Traction
Communications & Power Industries (CPI) has made significant strides in the defense sector by securing its first order for the latest iteration of its Multi-Orbit Constellation-Agnostic Terminal (MOCAT). This advanced model, known as the Ultra-Heavy-Duty (UHD), boasts an ultra-ruggedized design capable of enduring tough environments while providing superior performance for electronic warfare applications.
The initial order, awarded to a strategic defense solutions provider, is intended for use by a branch of the U.S. government. Given the expectations surrounding this launch, CPI anticipates additional orders to follow shortly. This is a notable development in military communications, as the MOCAT UAV has been designed specifically for swift deployment in high-pressure conflict situations.
Key Features of MOCAT UHD
The MOCAT UHD is characterized by its portable and lightweight structure, coupled with a robust framework that can withstand extreme conditions. It is precision-engineered to guarantee reliable satellite connectivity, ensuring it meets or exceeds military specifications consistently. The antenna is versatile, offering global communication capabilities across Low Earth Orbit (LEO), Medium Earth Orbit (MEO), and Geostationary Orbit (GEO) frequencies, utilizing L-Band through Ka-Band.
In August, CPI showcased the 2.4m MOCAT tactical antenna at the U.S. Army's Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland. The demonstration underscored the antenna's remarkable capabilities, highlighting its rapid, tool-free assembly and efficient satellite acquisition process. During this test, the MOCAT achieved quick on-air connectivity, establishing a solid lock on the satellite within minutes, while the integrated digital tracking receiver maintained superior connectivity throughout the operation.
Jamie Clark, president of CPI's Antenna Technologies division, remarked, "We introduced the MOCAT tactical antenna line earlier this year to cater to the multi-mission needs of customers seeking quick, reliable connectivity. The product has already attracted significant attention, indicating a high demand for portable solutions that deliver superior performance. We are encouraged by the interest shown to date in the MOCAT antenna and the MOCAT UHD, and we anticipate showcasing their capabilities to more clients in the months ahead."
