In an exciting new venture, Marukome Co., Ltd., headquartered in Nagano City, has announced the release of its first-ever granular miso cold soup base, dubbed "Agodashi Kaoru Hiyajiru no Moto." This innovative product will hit the shelves nationwide in early March 2026.

A Taste of Miyazaki: Cold Soup Popularity Surges


Hiyajiru, a beloved dish from Miyazaki Prefecture, is making waves across the country, primed as the go-to summer meal. Thanks to its simplicity and no-heat preparation, it has become a favorite for those looking to combat the summer heat and avoid heatstroke. Marukome has previously offered liquid miso versions of Hiyajiru, but with the new granular base, they have elevated convenience and storage efficiency to a new level.

The "Agodashi Kaoru Hiyajiru no Moto" is crafted with care, bringing together a delightful flavor profile that includes four key ingredients: black seaweed from Tatsunoko Co. in Saijo City, Ehime Prefecture, along with shiso leaves, tofu, and ginger. The inclusion of granular miso and agodashi broth promises a rich, aromatic experience for all palates.

User Testing Yields Positive Results


Before the official launch, Marukome collaborated with Snapdish Co., Ltd., a major cooking photo-sharing application based in Musashino City, Tokyo, to conduct a test monitor involving users of their platform. A survey was distributed to the users, revealing insightful trends about their familiarity with Hiyajiru.

The findings were telling: 53.7% of participants acknowledged knowing Hiyajiru but rarely consuming it, while 15.8% learned about it through this new product. Almost 70% of respondents displayed limited familiarity with the dish, highlighting a significant opportunity for growth in awareness and appreciation.

In terms of user feedback on the product itself, a substantial 74.7% praised its ease of use, while 63.5% were enthusiastic about its versatility in pairing with a variety of ingredients.

Many users shared that adding simple components like cucumber enhanced their satisfaction, resulting in a quick and delicious meal. The social media buzz reflects a promising response to the product's simplicity and scrumptiousness.
